  1. Here is a coil that I observed in one of my lfs tanks. Lol
  2. I have found a decent variety of small sized ones at stores like michaels / jo-ann fabrics. The price was better than homedepot/lowes as well.
  3. For me they grew and sold slow, I thought they would be a bigger hit. They like my water out of the tap and breed themselves. in my area the Tanganyikans seem to be more of a niche. I was also breeding caudopunctatus which I thought would really take off. They seemed to grow faster and have bigger spawns but moved even slower than the multis. Good luck, I think you will enjoy the multi tank setup. Its a dual purpose, breeding and show tank all in one.
  4. I think you will be fine with using the aragonite sand as substrate. I have the same setup currently in a 20L. I had them breeding previously in a 40B with pool filter sand as the substrate. One thing to watch for would be overcrowding once they do start breeding.
  5. I am in the Tampa Bay area. My tub is 90% shaded. I dont have any aquaponics going just fish and some aquarium plants. I have the 110 gallon tuff stuff tub from tractor supply. It is stocked with koi swordtails and shrimp. For filtration I have a couple of the bigger sized sponge filters on a hose from my central air system. My tub sits underneath the output drain for my auto water change system for my indoor tanks.
  6. I think seachem sells its own bag called "the bag"
  7. They are great parent raising cichlids to watch raise their fry
  8. I bought several mats designed for dogs on clearance at a local pet store. I have the runner type 60"x30" and cut them long ways to make 15"x60" water absorption mats for the front of my racks
  9. convict cichlid are super easy for egg layers. not sure I would house them in a 5 gallon though
  10. nice find. the wood look plastic are my favorite
  11. I would think once dry the solvent/cement would be fine. with the low pressures of aquarium plumbing it may not be necessary to glue the pieces that would be in the tank. Just glue the fittings that would leak outside of the tank.
  12. Maybe an automatic water change system would be worth looking into, at the very least drilling the new tanks for drains. I know that I quit overflowing tanks once they were drilled with overflow drains.
  13. I have hard water and I still use crushed coral. I look at it like a safety buffer on standby If my ph drops the water becomes more acidic and breaks down the crushed coral
  14. I use these 24v ac solenoid valves that work with the 1/4" water lines I control them using the 12 zone orbit sprinkler timer I use manual 1/4" valves near the input per tank that lets me turn off tanks without editing the program. For my tanks that are not drilled I just run 1/4" with a manual valve near the tank for easy water changes after draining.
  15. The only time I put bristlenose eggs in a tumbler is if they are kicked out of the cave.
  16. I recommend the seachem tidal if you are shopping for a replacement
  17. I think the 48" fluval 3.0 plant will be a good fit for that tank.
  18. I think you will be good with 1* 3.0 plant if you get the 48" model If your lighting needs increase you can always add another one later.
  19. The aqualog species specific reference books are great. https://www.aqualog.de/en/produktkategorien/reference-books/
