  1. I think of it as a supplement in addition to whatever antibiotic I'm using. Wishing you the best.
  2. I just wanted to mention that I've had good success supplementing with Seachem Stressguard to help treat fin-rot. I like to stack that with Maracyn2 or Kanaplex. Stressguard is basically Methylene Blue and polymers. Methylene Blue is antiseptic. It will help mitigate or prevent an infection. The polymers will bind to the wounds to help prevent a bacterial infection.
  3. Unfortunately, she didn't make it. It seemed like after I added Ick-X, she rapidly declined. She wasn't really getting better before the Ick-X so not really sure if it was Ick-X or just the progression of the illness. We're moving forward and not getting discouraged. I have a few hundred Platys- yes, you read that right; a few hundred platys that are all healthy. So, were thankful for that. Appreciate everyone's help.
  4. Roger that. I've added Ick-X to the water. I will keep this thread updated every 2-3 days.
  5. Day 3 Update: She's in a 2.5 gallon hospital tank. I've been treating with a food soak consisting of Kanaplex, Focus, Garlic. I treat the water with aquarium salt, and Seachem Stressguard daily with a half- capful. From what I've read Stressguard is basically Methylene Blue and polymers. She doesn't look as Flaky. It looks puffier, cloudy ☁️ even. Not sure what to make of it. However, she's in good spirits; swimming, eating, and interacts with us when we're in front of the glass talking to her. 4 more days to go- so, still early in the game. I like her positive spirit despite how rough it looks. Ill be doing a water change today and replacing the salt I take out.
  6. Thanks Colu. I moved her to my 2.5 gallon hospital tank. I added 2.5 tbsp of salt. I fed her a food soak consisting of Seachem Kanaplex, Focus, and Garlic. I also added Seachem Stressguard. I'll keep you posted of the progress.
  7. 24 hours after first treatment of "No Planaria", I see a noticeable decline in Planaria. It's a 72 hour treatment. I will report back 24 hours after final dose. Here's a link to another one of my YouTube videos. You can clearly see its Planaria. https://youtube.com/shorts/Z8m1yujfFgU?feature=shared
  8. I need help identitying what meds to offer this Platy. Three weeks ago, I noticed this Platy's scales looked flaky. Is this a fungal infection? I treated the water with Seachem Stressguard daily. I then fed her a daily food soak consisting of Daphnia, Garlic, and Maracyn2. 7 days later I didn't see any improvement. I continued Maracyn2 but then added Paraclense for another 7 days. There still hasn't been an improvement. Should I switch the food soak to a gram positive bacteria antibiotic such as Maracyn? Then add Ick-X? She's currently in a community tank; Mollys, Platys, Albino Corydoras, one Mystery snail, and three nerite snails, and of course hitchhiker Ramshorn snails. My quarantine tank is full with new fish, so that's a no-go. I do have a 2.5 gallon hospital tank. It was recently occupied but that fish was successfully rehabilitated and will return back to their tank today. I'll probably move the Platy in there. None of my other fish in the community tank have shown any signs of illness. They've been under the same food soak protocol as the Platy. She is eating and swimming around but has periods where she hides like in the attached pictures. pH 7.8 - 8.1 Nitrates 20-40 ppm Hardness 300-400 ppm Nitrite 0 Ammonia 0 KH/Buffer 200-250 Water Temperature 80
  9. Explains why I have so many missing shrimp. I was overrun with Blue Dreams. Now, I have to search for them. What's the best method to get rid of planaria? I dropped three female Bettas in there. I realize they will eat my Neocaridina shrimp fry too. I am hoping they leave the adults alone. I planned on purchasing this Planaria trap https://www.senzeal.com/glass-3-holes-planaria-trap-pest-leech-catcher-for-aquarium-p0707.html Edit: I decided to buy, "No Planaria". I will report back the results.
  10. I have a shrimp tank and I put some leaf litter in there. Now I'm seeing lots of worms in the tank. Are these planaria? I am not seeing the trademark triangle head. Are these detritis worms or planaria? Will these worms eat my Neocaridina? Link below to my YouTube video of the worms. Pic inserted as well.. https://youtube.com/shorts/c7lCofDQbiU?si=yZVffBSLIEPYv63k
  11. @Colu @nabokovfan87 Grim Reaper has returned. I found two more dead corydoras, 4 left. Now the deaths are touching fish from both breeders. The first deaths were only occuring in the fish from the 2nd breeder. Yesterday, I did a water change in preparation to run the 2nd dose of excel p, this is the only thing that changed. I had run a complete course of expel P>water change>Paraclense for one week>water change>two deaths. Water parameters after water change: 0 nitrates 0 nitrites 0 ammonia 0 Chlorine GH 200PPM KH 60 PPM pH went down a bit to 6.91. I try to keep pH at 7.0-7.15 Should I continue the protocol of ExcelP and Paraclense? My bamboo shrimp and blue dream shrimp are doing great, no losses. I'd hate to stress them out. I just had a bamboo shrimp molt. I don't see any clues on the dead fish as to what the problem is; no bloating, no swelling, spots, etc. It almost seems like I need to let this mystery play out over the next 30-60 days. If the Cory's all die, then do a few big water changes and then try again. Maybe, I'll just turn this into a shrimp only tank since they are thriving.
  12. @Colu @nabokovfan87 Happy New Year! So far, no further losses. The six I have left appear healthy. I also noticed a Blue Dream female with eggs. Hoping the Schultzei don't eat all the fry. 😁 Thanks again for all the help. 👍
  13. Ah, good to know. I am learning a lot about these C. Schultzei. I am looking forward to adding more numbers when the weather warms up a bit. Really glad that you see a female! I can't tell yet. I can easily tell what sex my Albinos and Emerald's are. I struggle identifying my Orange Venezuelaneus and these C. Schultzei. So far, no further losses. 🙏
  14. @Colu makes sense, it could be both in this case, unfortunately. @nabokovfan87 Your Schultzei look a little different than mine. It could just be the lighting. Yours appear to have a brown hue that runs the length of their body on top. I only seem to see that in mine on their fins, particularly the caudle tail. I think mine are younger, possibly they're just males but yours appear thicker than mine. Yours look awesome 👍 nice and healthy. My original 5 from the first breeder are still going strong and the last remaining one from the 2nd breeder seems okay, so far. I included a pic of 3 of the 6. What a ride this has been. When the time is right, hopefully; the next batch I buy will be solid. I was really hoping to spawn these.
  15. @Colu @nabokovfan87 I agree. I didn't see any milky water and the deaths have certainly been over an extended period of time. Stress from shipping, etc. Joe's Aquarium was great about the whole thing. I really appreciated his customer service and have enjoyed the Blue Dream shrimp. Interestingly enough, I can tell the two different breeders apart. The one from the first breeder; their barbels were completely black. The one's from Joe's had white tipped barbels. I have one left. I am hoping he makes it. I prefer to keep groups of 6, preferably 9-12. I'll have to check out that aquarium co-op membership. Just the data alone that I could research would be worth it.
