So far so good. They have all eaten. I am concerned about one male. He is at the top with fins fully flared. Not gasping, I have plenty of air in there. I moved him to my empty 10 gallon. Could it be one of the other males was fighting with him. They were sparring yesterday.

Howdy peoples, After some thought I decided to try some Peacock Gudgeons. They are a cool little fish. I added 6 to my 29 gallon tank. The only other residents right now are some Cory's and a couple Nerite snails. They were unable to sex the fish before shipping and it looks like possibly 3 of each. My main question is about the males. I see these feisty little buggers flaring and circling each other but since it's only been 3 days I figure they are just figuring out territory. I read they were finicky eaters and this is definitely true. A couple ate today and hopefully all will eat tomorrow. I am offering, frozen brine and bloodworms, fluval bug bites pellets and flakes, tried a tiny pinch of tetra flake. Any pointers are appreciated.

Hi, I recently had to dose my 29 gallon tank with salt. 1 tbsp per 2 gallons. The treatment ended yesterday and I did a 40% water change. I had removed my snails for the treatment. How many water changes should I do before returning the snails? I plan to do another water change tomorrow. Thanks

If those snails are with the eggs get them out. They will eat the eggs. Best of luck, how exciting

Hi, I had to remove my male from his girl as he tried to kill her. At present I have Mom Kribensis with some 2+ week old fry in my 20 gallon. I have her first litter in a ten gallon, I have yet to be able to count them but there are at least 75 2.5 month old babies in there, a 10 gallon they are swiftly out growing. My question is this, if I let the younger ones grow another month do you think it would stress Mom to much if I moved maybe half of the older babies over to the 20? Thanks in advance

Just to tell you the end of the story. Mom is doing well with her two week old fry. I didn't trust Dad enough to put them back together so with a heavy heart I returned him where he came, my lfs. He is a gorgeous specimen so I'm sure he will find a good home. 100+ babies is enough for now 😉

It was actually the opposite when I removed the first set of babies at like 7 weeks. Mom beat the hell out of Dad and bit a chunk out of his tail. After the 1st set was removed it was only about 8 days and she laid new eggs. The fry had been out with both parents for maybe a week, then I guess he went postal. They are the only ones in the tank. I don't get it but there is no other explanation for her being at the top gasping for air and so weak I picked her up in my hand. Do you think after the separation period they might go back together?

Good news. Mom seems well recovered, she ate and showed some spunk. Yay! Dad has been moved to the ten gallon with all his 2 1/2 month old babies. Ha! Take that you bully. I hope they pester him non stop. I will keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't bully or eat them. I decided to let Mom be with her newborns for a bit rather than adding the juveniles to. Less stress for her. Cheers and have a smurfy day

hey peoples, Hope all are well. I have this breeding pair of Kribensis and all has been fine. They are on their second spawn, I've moved the first batch to their own tank. All was fine, fed them this morning everyone looking good. I go back later in the afternoon and Mom is up near the top looking really bad. So bad I was able to scoop her up with my hand and you guys know how hard they are to catch. I only have the pair in there with there new batch of babies, maybe two weeks old. It's obvious he beat her nearly to death. Why?! Is this common? I have her in a breeder basket to protect her and hope she will make it. I offered her a couple worms and she did eat them. If she pulls through I am removing the male to the timeout tank. I tested my water and ammonia and nitrite were zero, my Nitrate was a little high so I did a water change. Any advice is appreciated. The plan at this point is if she seems ok, I'm removing the male and putting the older babies in with her and the new babies.

Im curious about intensity of light. My hygger isn't fully adjustable but has four I guess intensity settings. Low, medium, medium+ and high which i never use unless cleaning. Its a full spectrum fixture. Is that what you mean?

It looks like green hair algae. If you can't rub it off the leaves I'm sorry to say you probably have to clip off those affected. I'm very against adding any algae control chemicals to my tanks or any additives really. Clip off the bad stuff and do a large water change.

Ya, they got over it alright. Their tank inherited brown algae from my main tank. While doing some cleaning I picked up one of their caves to scrub off the top. Dad was very reluctant to swim out of it so before cleaning it I got my flashlight out to check for eggs. It was full of eggs!!! These guys don't believe in small broods I guess. More babies coming. Lol!!

Thanks so much for all the information! Sounds like these guys are quite the characters. I got carried away on pay day so if they still have any next month I might grab one. The girl that showed me them at my lfs said hers latch onto her arm when shes cleaning her tank. That's pretty cool. Ya'all have a great weekend

Thanks for all your replies. After reading a post on another forum where the Garra sucked the slime coat off two of the guys Angelfish, Garras are out. How horrid. Mine is a 29 gallon and I was going to get just one but have changed my mind. Maybe in a different tank. Thanks! GG

Their food is algae and biofilm One did munch on cucumber once but I had to put him on it then he liked it. I have been unsuccessful getting them to eat anything else even algae tabs.

Hiya gang, I am considering getting one Panda Garra. I wonder if anyone has experience with them. They seem to be good solo and are said to be only aggressive to their own or it said fish that look like them. I have at present 3 Powder Blue female dwarf Gourami's, they will be fine. I also have 5 Panda Cory's. The Corys dont look like them but do kinda have stripes. You dont think theyed hassle my Corys or outcompete my Nerite snails for food? Thanks in advance GG

Hey gang, I just removed my Kribensis first batch of babies. They were 5 weeks old and it seemed Mom and Dad were tired of them. Lots of head shaking and hiding not the close parental care they had a week or so ago. I am hoping I didn't move the babies to soon? First off Mom beat the hell out of Dad, now today two days after move both parents are hiding and seem almost depressed. Did I mess up? Do I need to put the babies back or would that make it worse? I am hoping they will snap out of it, they did eat today. What do you guys think?
