  1. Finally got a successful spawn of my Cryptoheros myrnae! I had them in a community 40 Breeder, but never saw fry. I loved them into a Fluval Flex 15 with only 5-6 Neon tetras and some mystery snails. Came home this afternoon to what appears to be a rather large group of fry! so excited! (Excuse the dirty glass)
  2. Made my first ever batch of Snello this morning. Hoping my Mystery and Rabbit snails love it. Mixed ~2TBS of Repashy with a tsp of calcium, a full pack of baby food, and boiling water. Poured it into my mini ice cube mold and put it in the freezer. Hoping to feed some this afternoon after I get back from church. 🙂 For those with experience, anything you would recommend changing? Also, is there any fruits or veggies I should avoid? I bought a mixed box of the baby food, so there all sorts of combinations. Thanks, TCoach
  3. There is a video on the channel with Dean making something similar for a portable blue tub pond. Super easy to do with pvc parts.

    Molly Rescue

Well he/she passed away today. 😞 Didn’t see anything obvious on the body. My guess is it was probably starving and was not healthy enough to eat. Even tried to spoil it with live white worms. Anyway, thanks for the help. Hopefully my next rescue will be more successful. 🙂
  5. So, can rabbit and mystery snails thrive together? Wanting to breed both since there is a need here in my local community. (Non-Big Box LFS can never get rabbits and has a hard time getting mystery’s, and most of the Big Box stores only have Nerites in stock). Right now I have ~8 Mystery’s and ~7 rabbits in the same tank. However some internet sites suggest Rabbits should kept close to 80F while Mystery’s should be closer to 75F. This leads me to think I need 2 tanks. What have y’all found to be true? I want to take the best care I can of these animals. I also know that the rabbit breeding project is probably a 5 year venture before I have a large enough breeding stock to be able to regularly sell. So, with that in mind, if they need significantly different parameter from mystery’s to thrive, I want to give them that. Thanks, -TCoach

    Molly Rescue

So, local Petco gave me this one Molly as a rescue given the mouth infection it has. I'm known at the store as a fish rescuer/medic, but more on the saltwater side. Due to the active infection, I set up an emergency tank (had a 3.5 gal I had by my desk). Put him/her in the tank with a tbsp or so of Instant Ocean salt, general cure, Ich-x, and Maracyn. Hoping it will make a quick recovery. Any suggestions for other treatments other than time? I'm using an air uplift system to circulate the water. So lot of air being added to the water with all the meds in it. Thanks! -TCoach
  8. Beautiful fish! As far as the price, I would not sweat it. You did not miss lead the associates and they gave you the price. Enjoy your find!
  9. I've always wanted a school of glass cats. Today, my local petco had a dozen of them and had the buy 2 get 1 free sale going on. So, now I'm the happy daddy to the full dozen of them. 🙂 Right now they are in a QT system to run through the QT Trio and make sure they are healthy. Once they come out of QT, I'd like to work on breeding them. Anyone have ideas on what sort of setup they want when heading towards breeding? I did not find a lot of info on the internet on them other than being good community fish. Anyway, happy to have them. 🙂 Thanks -TCoach
  10. Morning everyone, Just wanted to say hello. I live in the greater Columbia, SC area. I have multiple interests in fish and am looking to start breeding. I'm currently in a bit of a transition with my tanks as I'm looking to build a rack of freshwater tanks, and my reef is heading towards a 120 gallon tank. But right now here is what I have. 🙂 92 gallon Saltwater Reef. Sailfin and Scopas tangs, Bonded Falco hawk pair, 2 Pajama Cardinals, Breeding Saltwater Mollies, Snowflake eel, Clarki clown (mate passed), a Scooter Blenny, and a Flametail Blenny. 40G FOWLR - Biota Yellow Tang and pair of Mandarin Gobies, Blue Tang, Black Mollie, and Sunset Dottyback. 40B FW - Several misc fish left over from when my 90g developed a leak, but also has my Buenos Aires shoal (12 fish) and 3 Cryptoheros myrnae (2 females, 1 male). The dominant female has started laying eggs. 🙂 In QT right now, I have some dwarf/pigmy cories, a shoal of neon tetras(16-20 fish), 9 misc guppies (3 males, 6 females), some green cories, and then a female betta. I also have some small tanks with cherry shrimp and another with mystery snails that I'm hoping to breed. They'll all be joining the rack once it is build. Anyway, gotta run to work, but wanted to drop a quick note. Thanks, -TCoach 🙂
  11. So, starting to get more interested in trying to breed several of my fish for fun and profit (hopefully 🙂). After watching some of Cory's videos on his early fish rooms, I'm looking at using his cinder block rack and building one rack to hold my tanks. For the most part, all of these tanks I already own (I might be short 1 20H tank). I'm big into saltwater (have a 92 gallon reef), and want to use an extra sump I have with this rack. This will allow me to run a single pair of heaters to heat the entire rack instead of heating each tank. Currently, the rack will be in my office which is part of our in-law suite, and I plan to keep the room heated/cooled into the mid 70's. I'd love to use the heat the room, not the tank principle. Anyway, here is my initial design. Please give me any constructive suggestions you might have. Green lines are supply, red are returns. The red line out of the sump will be a selenoid controlled drain on the sump to allow me to do automated water changes. When it is opened, the sump will drain out and the auto-topoff will keep the pump chamber filled with fresh water. This will allow all tanks to water change at once and only use a single pump for all circulation. Each tank will be connected to the pump and use drip irrigation emitters to control the flow into each tank. I'm hoping that a 1-2x turn over an hour should be sufficient. Thoughts? Thanks, TCoach
