  1. That's a good thought. If you end up figuring that out, please share!!
  2. Feeding less is a great way to decrease the snail population in your aquarium. Another important question to ask yourself is why are you doing all of this? What is the purpose? Is it worth all the time and money to get rid of all of them or is it okay to have a few lingering snails?
  3. All of your aquariums are beautiful!! Those plants are insane!
  4. Looking good! I am definitely jealous of your proximity to the coop. I live across the country and can only dream of having such a shop in my area.
  5. This is such a great idea! I have been wanting to make some fry trays for my 20L, but I dont have a auto waterchange sytem and didn't want to buy a pump just for this, but I hadn't thought of using air to move the water. I think another benefit of this system is that the main aquarium is getting some extra filtration if i'm not mistaken?
  6. I was just watching an coop video where Dean talks about his experience breeding angelfish and he said that he has bred angels over 8.0 ph, so going off of that I would not chase lower ph and softer water and focus on clean water.
  7. Scissors are definitely on the top of my list. I find myself using them almost daily. A pen or sharpie is also nice to have for note taking on labeling things. I also have small nets and things to move fry and shrimp
  8. Are you planning on adding plants? If so, what species?
  9. Welcome to the forum @Tyffani do you have any aquariums set up at the moment? I’m sure everyone would love to see some pictures!!
  10. Not quite😂 also, the Amazon sword is not native to the area this fish is from. I just like how they look.
  11. That sounds super interesting!! And pictures are always great, but I totally understand that a lot of the internet can be pretty harsh when you show them your aquariums.
  12. Some exciting new things are happening in the fish room! For starters, the red head tapajos are growing quickly and starting to show some markings and slight coloration. Their qt is almost over, so they will soon join the 75 gallon South American ish themed aquarium. I also purchased a betta for my 5 gallon and I have been enjoying him so far. I also have a surprise project for the 10 gallon the tapajos are currently in. Here are some clues/ items I have purchased for the setup
  13. Welcome to the forum! Your aquariums sound very neat and I’m sure all your wet pets are very happy having a wetland scientist as their owner!
  14. Welcome! Your fish room and aquariums look amazing!!
  15. First of all, thank you for your service and welcome to the forum! I am a fellow fisherman too and enjoy catching bass along with other species of fish native to western Maryland. It looks like your shimp are loving life and doing great, so congrats on that!
  16. I was out ice fishing the last few days taking advantage of some cool weather here in western Maryland. Any other ice fishermen care to share some of their catches? I always enjoy learning about how fish react to cold weather and how their habits change throughout the winter. 12 inch perch! Pickerel Walleye
  17. A quick update on the mini fish room. For starters, all the red head tapajos are doing great! I fed more vibra bites today and they seem to really enjoy them. They are becoming much more outgoing and hiding less which is exciting to see! kuli loaches making an appearance And the purple mosaics and cherry shrimp
  18. As others have alreday said, i think the best move would be to redo the tank and make it something you enjoy. Also, I find that the more I enjoy an aquarium tho more time I spend working with it, so in the long run this move will probably also be best for the fish.
  19. Welcome to the forum! Your aquarium looks amazing! I especially like the live plants and your panda corydoras
  20. Welcome to the forum! Your aquariums look great!!
  21. Update on the geophagus pyrocephalus (red head tapajos) after 24+ hours. They are all alive and seem to be adjusting very well to their new aquarium. I fed all the fish vibra bites for the first time tonight and I can understand why everyone likes them so much! All the fish went CRAZY! I even caught the tapajos eating them I didn't realize how small vibra bites were until I was holding them in my hand, but fortunately that just means my guppies can eat them too!
