Welcome to the forum! We're glad to have you here:) My younger brother has a betta that looks almost identical to the one in the 2nd pic-Morgan?

Okay, that’s definitely a fair point. I’m East coast too. I have heard they are pretty hardy in general, but I’m not sure how they ship. I made the mistake of getting black gravel with mine, so it sounds like we’re in the same boat lol

I too have some black kuli loaches and I definitely love their personality, but I do wish they were a bit more visible, so I see where you’re coming from. As for wether you should buy the fish, personally I would say yes, but not from this source. Aquhuna has striped kuli loaches for $3 each + $12 flat rate shipping I believe. I have a feeling you will probably save money because you will probably loose less fish and save money on meds too. As for quarantining the fish, I would probably just fill your 15 gallon up with 10 gallons to make the dosing easier and then you will still be able to observe the fish and it will save you from setting up a at tub.

Fluval 30 HOB and a sponge filter .
Do you have a prefilter sponge on the intake of your HOB? If not, it would probably help to add one so your fish don’t get sucked up any more. Sorry if I’m misunderstanding your question.

I would go with some leopard danios personally. I like @Lennie’s suggestion of hillstream loaches!! Wcmm are also a great idea

What kind of filter are you running that it is sucking up all the guppies??

Happy Palm Sunday y’all!!
There hasn’t been anything too interesting going on in the fish room.
Louis the betta wanted to say hi though- -
I'd love to see some pictures of your haul! That sounds super fun!!

In my experience it doesn't affect the water too much, but I have softish water to start with, so that might make it less obvious. I also don't have a significant ammount of wood in any one aquarium, so my advice might not be completely accurate. If I were you I would test the water a bit more frequently and maybe add some crushed coral to offset any changes in the water chemistry.

Welcome to the forum @HardWaterFish Your aquarium looks great! As for stocking ideas, I immedediately thought of guppies when you mentioned you have hard water. If you are looking for a sligtly larger fish, you could go with mollies or platies.

That banana plant looks super happy and amazing! I might need to place a coop order lol.

Thank you! I really like having all three varieties in my shoal. The greens seem to be slightly more boisterous and dominant than the other variations (though there's an albino that's also scrappy!) I think I need to get a swarm of amano shrimp (only have 3 + 7 nerites for cleanup) to help with all that green spot on my anubias though.
I kept a group of green tiger barbs with odessa barbs in a 55 gallon, I definitely enjoyed them! I definitely considered doing other types of tiger barbs because I love how that looks!

Snapped some nice pictures of the geophagus and angelfish at feeding time last night that really shows how much they’ve grown! Please excuse the glare

I love how you mixed the different color variations of tiger barbs. I think that makes them even more interesting than they already are! All the live plants look abating too

Glad to see that I’m not the only guy who’s never happy with the placing of his plants 🌱😂
The plan is to leave this aquarium mostly untouched and wait to see what happens, but I can see myself trying to move stuff around and making a mess😂

In my experience the "classics" are called that because most people wouldn't call them "goods".
🤣

I have had good success with tiger barbs, Odessa barbs, and a bristlenose pleco from petco.
