  1. That is an excellent use of coconut coir matting!
  2. Once your plants get bigger, they will mop up your nitrates. I couldn't worry too much. That is a shame about your town's tap water!
  3. I want a herd of them, but worry about feeding. They are so CUTE.
  4. This is why I hesitate to keep little pea puffers: I worry about feeding them.
  5. Hello. Well, it started early in the week. I saw one lone fry. Then two more. Then four, etc. Today I spotted three more! I have seven of them in a Lee Net Breeder. Two more are still in the tank, but catching them is elusive. They are about a half inch long. (12.7 mm). Eating quite well on a jar of BBS I ordered from Aquarium Co-Op. Can't promise pictures, I'm terrible at pics! I may try. There must be enough paramecium for the babies to live off of? It's very exciting. edited for clarity.
  6. Gorgeous and fascinating fish. Always wanted a shoal of them.
  7. @Chick-In-Of-TheSea I love that you brought home two little tetras by accident. This morning I was gazing in my tank, and two, yes TWO MORE little babies popped up. So I have six of them now. :D
  8. Ohhh, my Head and Taillight Tetras surprised me with four little fry. At first I just saw one. Imagine my surprise when three more popped up! They're in a net breeder now, floating in the main tank.
  9. Of course I remember Flipper! I used to watch that and Daktari! Welcome. A friendly bunch of folks swim here.
  10. I have a 20 gallon long, and do 20% water changes weekly. My nitrates are zero, b/c I have Pothos, etc growing out of the top. I'm thinking about going to 30% a week. I have 11 Head and Tail light Tetras and one little Honey Gorami (Hermann). I think water changes are the equivalent of airing out your house.
  11. I love it! It's amazing how fast MTS takes over. 😁 You're setting a good example for your son too! Showing an interest in nature is always a plus. Your tanks are *chefs kiss gorgeous!!
  12. I would love to try and breed them. Other wise than that, I'm just enjoying them!
  13. Well, my little Neons didn't make it. Nothing I did, they just were too stressed from shipping. Here is my tank now with 11 Head and Taillight Tetras, and one Honey named Hermann. (he is shy)
  14. Yes that sounds about right. And they both need to be kept in groups of 6 or more.
