  1. I've been getting a lot better at 3D printing and got some PETG filament. I've been printing fish hides and new filter parts. No issues so far!
  2. New project! Growing out some cute little N. Rachovii @Slick_Nick
  3. Pulled a few of the colony bred babies to grow out in a separate tank. Three babies of ranging sizes in the top left corner
  4. Sold a trio of the gardneri at my local club, and I placed in my first fish contest. It was by default but I'm not mad about it
  5. This is a fun development. I found three babies in the tank as I was clearly some of the floating plants.
  6. @Slick_Nick I raised them in a Spec 5.5 gallon tank. They're very energetic.
  7. They’re growing like weeds. Most resemble the female but one has some darker finnage coming. They’re hard to get in one frame but all six are still kicking. Weaned off brine shrimp and now ravage the hakari vibra bites and nano flakes from extreme.
  8. I've printed the following modifications and tools for my aquarium with success. Duckweed Scoop w/ brace bars-- note: The tinges are close together. When I added a brim, it fused the first few layers and made it annoying to clean up. Link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4232833 Filter Media holder-- I printed on its side. It needed some support, and removing the ones on the top next to the handlebar took a minute. Link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4564297 I printed 2 kinds of water flow baffles. #1 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5214131 #2 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1994922 The first one is a spray bar with an open end that you attach a separate end cap. This one worked well, but when I think it's going to be too hard to try and shellac the deep inside with the acrylic spray. The second baffle is much shorter and open. It's very easy to spray the inside. The only problem with baffle #2 is the inlet tube is small enough that the water pressure pushes it out. I am thinking of super-gluing a rubber band to close the gap and create friction.
  9. Bellies full of BBS. There are a solid 6 fry. Not the biggest bunch but they’re going strong!
  10. Thank you for letting me know @Theplatymaster. I didn't check this before I printed them. There are only two in the aquarium water, so I will pull them soon. It looks like you can also waterproof them with acrylic shellac. https://3dprinterly.com/is-3d-printed-pla-abs-petg-safe-for-fish-or-aquariums/
  11. You mean like the kid it comes with? Or an insert for the hole in the lid?
  12. Funny you mention them. I can’t get them cause I have killifish and I think they would jump out. I did make a light lift and it’s great!
  13. I’ve been collecting a few different 3D prints and printing them at my local library. Here is a duckweed comb. I’ll post all links with photos and how I printed them. There’s a slimmer screen, and a great spray bar!
  14. UPDATE: I lost the male to Camallanus worms about two weeks ago, so the pressure is on! I had my first egg hatch today. They sure are tiny. I will submit a form to my local club BAP. I think the first food will be BBS or boiled egg yolk slurry.
  15. All they had was females at my LFS, and I was able to buy a chunky one. Sure, which part of the set up would you like to see @Schuyler? Hi! Your A. Striatum inspired me. I pulled mine because I wasn't sure if she would eat them. So I saved some once I found them. I think I've got about 30 or so. Since it was my first time, I also wanted to try it this way. Also, I have them in a Fluval Spec V 5.5 Gallon tank with black Flourite sand, so I was worried I wouldn't see any.
  16. I'm going to be incubating them in water with a solution called Ed Warner Solution. It's from this LRB aquatics video at 45:25. I did buy a heating pad as my room is not staying at 72+ degrees. I will keep the reptile heating pad and the eggs in a styrofoam cooler until they hatch.
  17. I've had my male gardneri for about a year and I added the female about 2 months ago. She is hardy, active and now chunky! I put together a spawning mop and did some research on preparation of the mop and placement. About a week after I placed the mop in, I took it out to check for eggs and mistakenly missed all the eggs. I made the mistake of not looking hard enough the first time I took out the mop. You've got to look at the top of the mop! I left the mop out to dry so that I could try in a week. I was cleaning the mop before putting it in again this week and found the dried eggs. I was bummed but still put the eggs in a tank water filled cup. The tank is planted and has a trio of CPD This week I've been more on top of it and now I've got eggs! Happy valentines day to my fish-o. Just about 20 eggs. I will update with incubation. I am not sure which Gardneri I have but my guess is P82 Tank: 5.5 Spec V Water Parameters attached
