  1. 45 Gallon. Set up 10/2022. 30 Nitrate. 0 Nitrite. 0 Ammonia. GH 300. PH 7.4. KH 120. No CO2. Medium light. I have 4 Crypts, 2 swords, 1 Anubias, 1 Java fern, 1 Pogo and some Java moss. The Pogo is growing like crazy. The crypts are decent and fed ACO root tabs often. The swords are barely hanging on even though they get easy green and root tabs. I got them from LFS who claimed they were Brazil Swords. I was reading that plants can’t absorb as many nutrients when the water is super hard. Any truth to that?
  2. He’s a bit ashy in some spots but no raised bumps. I do worry about the others. Would it be worth just treating the whole tank with meds just to be safe?
  3. Here’s a video I got this morning right before feeding time.Video 2 Definitely not good since he still won’t eat.
  4. I really can’t thank you both enough for the help. It’s definitely hard to see him struggle and not be the playful derp like the rest of them. I’m going to get the quarantine tank set up and start the Maracyn and Levamisole today (if I can find them locally. Might have start salt first and order off Amazon). Would it be worth the effort to treat the whole tank in addition in case anything’s been passed to the others? I have no problem replacing plants. I have a slight plant addiction lol. Substrate is a mix of eco complete and Fluval stratum.
  5. Video from 4 days ago. He was super zoned out and hadn’t eaten in a few days. I can’t get a good picture of him. He’s definitely thin and no visible injuries, redness or worms. And 1/2 teaspoon to 1/2 gallon of water in a separate container for 10 minutes was the advice I was given. So far I don’t think it’s made a difference yet.
  6. Haha it's a zip tie to keep it on the tube. It was a little too big and kept floating off. I filed down the sharp end so it wouldn't stab anybody lol
  7. @IHOctopus Aquahuna is pretty good about emailing you when they get in stock. If you find something you like you can put your email on the list to be notified. I've done it now with Ammano shrimp and Rummy Nose.
  8. @nabokovfan87 thank you for the info! I use the Aquarium Co Op multi test strips daily since it's a newish setup. No ammonia, no nitrite, 20 nitrate. PH 7.2, KH 120, GH is a little high at 150. Its stayed consistent since 9/3 when I first started logging them. I have a 45 gallon tall tank, aquaclear 70 HOB and large ACO sponge filter with air stone. Heater is set to 75 and stays consistent. I feed a mix of flake, pellets, and frozen blood worms and brine shrimp. Currently stocked with 9 rummy nose, 10 albino corys and a handful of snails. I haven't witnessed any bullying however the cory in question does appear to have lost his barbells. I don't think I've ever seen him eat in over a week. A friend recommended the salt bath option before setting up a hospital tank and meds. I just ordered the ACO med trio last night, figured it would be best to have them on hand just in case.
  9. I have a sick albino Cory. After some research I decided to give him a salt bath. 1/2 tsp aquarium salt and 1/2 gallon of same temp water for 10 minutes. I watch him for the whole 10 minutes and after he’s added to the bath he hardly moves. Is that normal? I use a coffee mug to scoop him out of the display tank and slowly add the salt water over 10ish seconds and dump him in. Could I be shocking him?
  10. I have found that anything aquarium related on Etsy is pretty awesome. I got a 3D printed “poth-o-carry” and 3D printed HOB baffle. I asked for a floating plant ring for Christmas and a shrimp hide.
  11. Hi all, I’ve had Elvis for about a year in my 5 gallon office tank. About 4 months ago I started noticing his face getting darker. Now it looks like his eyes are covered in black scales. I can’t say for sure if he’s unable to see because he swims fine considering those giant floppy fins. Water parameters have been good and just recently got our first case of blue green algae. What do you think? Does this look normal?
  12. Hello friends! My son is 3, non-verbal with ASD. We are only a few months into our hobby but I can certainly say that he finds the schooling fish most enjoyable. He’s a sensory seeker who goes berserk (in a good way) at the overstocked goldfish tank at Petco. I certainly wouldn’t recommend that but the setup we have now fits his sensory needs. We have dark substrate, dark background with 10 albino Cory’s and 9 rummy nose. When he’s overstimulated I like to hold him tight and sit in front of the tank while he focuses on their movement. So far it’s been working great and even my family members can get him settled easier with the tank too. It’s definitely not as exciting as the PETCO fish tank so he doesn’t interact with the tank when he’s bored. My daughter (6) loves science and watches the aquarium co op videos with me when we clean our tank. It’s been a great educational tool and gives us a chance to bond over our little fish family.
  13. What filter would you choose if you used the large Aquarium Co Op sponge filter?
  14. Do I wash the roots in dirty tank water first then plop them in the HOB? I have an Aquaclear 70.
  15. Thank you for the feedback! I certainly want to keep my tank healthy. Would it be a lost cause to “pre-treat” the whole tank now with meds? I have about a dozen plants in my tank too that I would hate to lose.
  16. Hello all! I’m a mom of two young kiddos. My son has ASD and is non-verbal. He’s the sweetest little guy I’ve ever met and he LOVES to watch fish. I started my hobby about a year ago with the typical gateway Betta fish and now I’m hooked! I got a 45 gallon high tank and spent months researching the perfect setup for our space. I came to the conclusion that I like personality and behavior more than pretty colors so after I finally got the tank cycled I bought 10 albino Cory’s! The whole family loves to watch them play and forage around in the plants and dirt. I happened to stop by my local fish store yesterday and my son fell in love with the rummy nose tetra. We came home with 9 last night and they colored up within about 10 minutes. Today is day two and I’m starting to wonder if I should get a few more rummy nose to add to our community or look for a colorful centerpiece fish. Of course I don’t plan on adding any more fish for at least for another month so perhaps it will give me time to think it over. Any thoughts, ideas or criticisms are appreciated!
