I have had two African dwarf frogs for about a year and one has cloudy eyes. I got them when they were really young and from a really nice fish store. It was apparent after a month I had them one was noticeably smaller than the other. Today I looked and it looked like he had cloudy eyes and was really skinny. He’s as active if not more than the other one and he eats when I feed them so I’m not sure why he’s just not gaining weight. This is what they’ve been eating.

My tank has been overrun by baby mystery snails. They are still very small and I was thinking of getting a few assassin snails but wanted to hear some more suggestions.

I have a 15 gallon tank that’s a bit of a mess. I’ve had this stubborn little male platy in my female tank. He was in there because my other tank was having some issues and he was the only fish that it seemed to effect so I put him in the female tank to recover a little bit but I haven’t been able to get him out for weeks. Finally I just got done with him and had to take out 80% of my decor in my tank to get him. But now I have a ton of platy fry. As some of you know the female platy can hold on to male sperm for months and can reproduce without them. And to top it all off, my mystery snails have decided to mate, lay the eggs where I couldn’t see them, and now I have millions of baby snails. I’ve been looking into these pea puffers and are really interested in buying some but it doesn’t seem there’s a lot of research on them. I’ve hear some people have complications with them and their guppies and I wasn’t sure if it was the same with platies. I’ve heard some ate baby snails and some didn’t. I’ve heard they’re too small and my platies would eat them. I’ve hear they’re too big and will attack my platies. I’ve read they’re aggressive and you can only have so many in a tank. There’s just so much confusion with these little puffers and even when they could be a answer to all my problems they could also destroy my tank.

Sooooo I might have made a mistake of putting two mystery snails in the same tank and long story short there are now millions of baby snails in my tank. Don’t get me wrong I love free snails but I’m not sure I need the hundreds currently in my tank. They are still VERY small and everywhere. I do have a pet store who takes fry and snails but it is about an hour away and I’ll like to save it as last resort. What should/can I do with all these snails? Does anyone want free mystery snail? 😂

Update: I ended up buying kanaplex off of Amazon and it helped stop the fin from getting worse. I also added some aquarium salt. Sadly it took a few days for the kanaplex to arrive so his fin looks really bad right now. I’m sorry that the image quality is bad I had to take this with my front camera and play around with the tanks lighting so you can actually see the fish.

Everyone in the tank is happy and healthy except the guppy.

Hello, one of my guppies has developed fin rot. I’ve been trying to treat him in the past couple of days and it’s only getting worse. I’ve been using API Melafix which has worked well in the past when my guppies got fin rot or split their tail but it’s not working quick enough to help my guppy. If anyone has any recommendations for a fin rot medication it would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with @Colu, you should definitely try to treat the tank for parasitic infections. But another reason for you guppy’s bent spine is genetics. It really depends if he had the bent spine when you first got him or if he developed it. I’ve had a few guppies who had bent spines and they can live for a while but I never really found anything that would fix it. I actually had a yellow guppy with the same problem that your black guppy has. I posted it on this forum a week ago. You can access it if you click on my profile and go to activity. But the conclusion we came to is that the guppy had a broken spine and I had to euthanize it. So your black guppy might have a completely different problem then your red tuxedo.

Is there any way I can still help the fish?

My guppy is somehow living so I was able to get a few pictures. Also I’m very sorry but my back camera is broke so I had to take this with the front camera so the image quality is bad and I don’t know what went wrong with they colors.

I feed the fish fluval color enhancing bug flakes, I also feed them frozen brine shrimp once a week.

I’m very sad to admit this but one of my all time favorite fish I ever had is going for a fact to die. I don’t really know what to do. He is a yellow guppy that I had for about 9 months. I got him from more of a “fancy fish store” then like a normal petsmart or Petco. I have researched for hours and I can’t find anything that describes fully what sickness or disease that he has. Like some sort of magic devolved a curved spine overnight. And it isn’t really a “s” or “c” shape it looks more like a “<” shape. And that’s it. No other symptoms. Eating fine. Acting as normal as a fish could be looking like a sideways “v”. It can no longer swim right and I know it’s near impossible for a fish to recover from that so if it somehow survives the night I am thinking about euthanizing it since it won’t be able to function properly. A few months ago, my platy had fry. After a few weeks with the fry I noticed that one was smaller than the others. I tried feeding her more, worm medicine, and other medicine. Nothing seemed to work. She is very small compared to the others and does not swim around like she should. It seems very difficult for her to swim and she normally lays on my decorative cave. She also does not have a curved belly it’s kind of flat. After about 3 and a half months she had not grown at all. Now I’m getting really concerned about her and noticed today a large tumor or some sort of lump on her side. I once had a dream that my husband’s favorite fish died. I remember that I was going downstairs to check on the fish tank just to see his yellow guppy on the gravel flipped upside down. The worst part was, we were saying at my family’s house that night so on the drive home I had a literal panic attack that his favorite fish died. I couldn’t recall if it was a dream or a memory so I ended up telling him that it died. We were in for a surprise when we got home just to see him swimming around happily. 🤣😅😂

I’m in a sticky situation. My platies had fry in a 15 gallon tank which they share with three guppies. I really wanted to keep the fry so I started setting up another tank for them. Currently I have an extremely over crowded tank. I’m trying to cycle the tank as fast as I can while making it safe for my fish. One of my guppies seems extremely stressed. He is darting around the tank, doing weird fluttering movements which he normally doesn’t do, always has black eyes, and he has started to chase the other guppies. It is impossible to remove him or others out of the tank at this time. I know there’s stuff you can buy to make fish less stressed but which of them work and how well? Does anyone have good advice?

Question for @Fish Folk: Does the “peacefulness” apply to both male and female?

So I’m setting up another tank because one of my tanks is at max capacity. I currently have guppies and platies in that tank. I only have 3 guppies in the tank so my plan is to move them to the new tank letting the platies to have their own. My new fish tank is 15 gallons but still needs to be set up. I researched this topic and got mixed results. My three guppies are yellow with a round tail, a half black half blue guppy with a fan tail, and a half black half blue guppy with a flag tail (all male). I have never seen these guppies be aggressive to my snails, platies, or each other (nipping/chasing). Specially, I would really like to get a female galaxy koi betta. I know a lot of these answers are going to be “It depends on the personality of the betta”. Is there any other way of knowing if guppies can go with a female betta?

I have about a month and a half old platy who looks like she’s struggling. She is really skinny compared to the others and after about a week of observation she usually lays at the bottom of the tank or on top of my cave decoration. I also noticed that she usually has really rapid breathing. It takes her a lot of effort to swim and she’s not that good at it. Her belly is completely flat compared to the others and I’m assuming it a birth defect. I really don’t want to euthanize her but if it’s the best thing for her I will. I really want to save that for last resort.

So I have a female platy that just gave birth to fry a few days ago and noticed that her poop was blue. I feed my fish Aqueon tropical flakes and frozen brine shrimp. Neither of which is blue. She’s acting like normal but is just pooping neon blue. Should I be concerned about this?
