@Matt B Do you have a lot of live plants everywhere in your tank? It looks like it. That’s a cool photo by the way. Yeah I heard after I bought them that they can be “murder beans”. Mine are quite nice to the other fish. I really don’t think the fry are small enough to fit in their mouths. At least not in one bite, which sounds horrible. The fry are fairly big, like I said almost able to determine the sex and their patterns are coming out on some of their tails. Although a concern could be them getting food. Because my gouramis LOVE food. I feed them twice a day with twice weekly frozen bloodworms. Thanks.

Hello, I have a question. So I am switching up my tanks and will be selling my guppy fry to my lfs. But I have to wait until they are sexable. They will be in a few weeks but I’m hoping to move them into a different tank before then. The tank I want to move them to is a 45 gallon with 3 pea puffers, 2 honey gouramis, 3 bristlenose plecos and 2 corys (I had 5 but they’re old and are passing over time and I don’t know if I want more as of right now). Everyone gets along great and they have all been together for 6 months. My question is, will my guppy fry (about a centimetre big/0.4 inches) be okay with the pea puffers? I don’t think my gouramis will mind them as they are very friendly. My pea puffers are also pretty friendly. They don’t pick on anyone or each other. I have the 15ish fry in a 20 gallon right now as their grow out tank. I can put some live plants in to help hide the fry like java moss in the 45 to help hide them. I obviously don’t want to have them all die. Any advice would be great.

I removed it. He tried to eat it, he may have bit it I don’t know.

@Colu I have now found fuzzy white balls inside the dwarf gouramis tank. What do i do? I have never seen this.

@Colu Alright will do. I can only find top fin ammonia neutralizer. Maybe my little area of Canada doesn’t sell a lot of prime. My 45 gallon with the honeys all has perfect parameters. No ammonia or nitrate/nitrites. But the one honey has that problem too. What should i do for the honey? The honey was with the dwarf gourami, temporarily during the time I was away. Do you think the honey will just get better by themselves?

Hi, he’s been like this for about a week and a half I think. He has been “fasting” because he can’t seem to swim to the surface to get food. So no improvement. He can swim around but he doesn’t move much. Ammonia may be high because I had add some Top Fin bacterial and fungal herbal remedy. The fish store said it might help. Ammonia was a bit high 0.25 Nitrites 0 Nitrates 0 PH 7.5 @Colu I am testing the water for the honeys a bit later today. I have to work right now. The honey is definitely not as bad. But I will definitely test when I’m done.

Hi everyone. My adventures to redoing my 45 gallon aquarium have gone awry. I have 3 bn plecos, 2 honeys and 3 albino corys, there was 5 but two died and 3 dwarf puffers (which my lps said would be okay in this big of a tank, I told them about my other fish). I don’t know the water parameters yet. I will be doing my tests tomorrow. As for right now I have a big problem. I have a dwarf gourami in a quarantine tank right now who was originally with everyone else. They all got along great. Fast forward about a month (December 2022) I went away because a family member got ill. My friend looks after my fish tank because they live with me and it was easiest. My dwarf gourami is locally bred and I’ve had him since September 2022 with no problems. Now he has a large stomach, which I originally thought was constipation or bloat so I tried treating it with peas, he ate one but no change. Now I have the same issue with a honey but in the earlier stages. I had a two corys died, one in the tank with the dwarf gourami and one with the honeys. My friend didn’t take either of the corys out and I’m now wondering if the two gouramis tried to make a snack out of the poor corys? Maybe that’s why they are sick. The corys were about 4-5 years old so it was most likely natural causes. The dwarf gourami is a neon blue and the honeys are reds. I need help. The honey is eating and pooping fine. The dwarf gourami is not doing either from what I can tell.

Unfortunately Velma didn’t make it. I’m sad but glad she’s not suffering anymore.

I did try Indian almond leaves. I had to move her to a small quarantine tank. I don’t know the measurements or gallons. I’ve checked all my pet shops for medicine they don’t sell any that I can find. I haven’t tried aquarium salt yet @Coluokay. I know I can get aquarium salt but I’ve never seen methane blue at any store. I know what it is as I’ve seen it in YouTube videos but I’ve never been able to find any. If I order it online, she might not make it by the time I get it.

@Coludo you know if they sell that in Canada? A lot of medications people say I can’t find here.

Hi, I previously posted about my Betta Velma who was in her 5 gallon with her snail buddies (snails were there waiting to be moved to a different tank). Since I ran out of test kits the tank was tested at Petsmart and they said high Nitrites. I was advised to move Velma into a quarantine tank, which I did. Velmas condition is now horrible and has very quickly progressed to body rot. And I don’t know what to do. Some people are saying I should euthanize with clove oil and some say try to help with aquarium salt. I tried the 50% water changes a day for a week and nothing improved. There was never any over feeding because I saw her eat every piece or I removed anything that wasn’t eaten within 5 minutes. The tank she and the snails were in got taken down and completely redone. Although I just started cycling today. My question is, what are my best options? I have her old tank which has bacteria starter and water conditioner in it, with new plants and substrate but it was just setup today. I really don’t think there’s a solution for her as much as it kills me to say. It looks terrible, I’ve never seen anything like it. Her fin rot has gotten to her body now. Which was due to nitrites being high for too long and I didn’t know. I do my weekly water changes and vacuuming with all of my fish tanks. I hate seeing her in pain, but I don’t want to euthanize her. What should I do? Also for the snails, are they “contagious” if I was to put them in a different tank? Right now they’re in quarantine too.

Hi everyone, my betta Velma seems to have some issues. She is missing part of her fin (assuming fin rot) and has this white patch on her scales. Not fuzzy and I don’t think it’s ich. She swims around normally and frequently but isn’t eating near as much as she used to. Maybe 2 betta pellets a day, before was 5. I’ve put an Indian almond leaf in her tank which had seemed to stop the issue from progressing. But her eating concerns me because of how much I know she loves food. I’ve tried freeze dried bloodworms as well, and nothing. I took her water sample to get tested they said Nitrites were high, everything else was good. Unfortunately I don’t know the exact numbers. There are two snails in her tank, it’s a 5 gallon. 80° F with heater and filter. 20% water changes and vacuum done weekly. Hi, I have had fish for 10+ years now. Among many other pets lol. I have 5 fish tanks set up right now and 2 not set up. My 45 gallon is running happy and healthy. Also a 10 gallon, 2x 5 gallons and a 3 gallon. Nano tanks are solo betta fish tanks. Thanks everyone.

My problem: he’s got a bump on his stomach which is now white and protruding. As well as a white “dent” on top of his saddle. The stomach was like that when I got him just is worse now. The spot on his saddle is within the last month or so. I’ve been searching for answers but no one knows. He eats normally and loves to see when I walk by I think in hopes for food lol. He gets 5 pellets a day. His swimming has seemed like it’s been more hard for him that last few days. He has to move his body a lot to swim. He’s a handsome male rose petal betta. I got him back in May. He was originally white, blue and red so his name is Captain America. He is now red and blue, my guess is he was unhealthy due to how he changed colours completely in less than 2 months. I don’t have his water parameters right now. I haven’t had a kit or it tested in too long. I plan on doing that asap. He gets weekly water changes and has been given bettafix for a week as recommended. He’s in a 3 gallon tank with no sharp edges. There’s a bladder snail that hitched a ride on a live plant a while ago. Temp is 78° F.
