  1. Thanks for the reply. My tank doesn't smell like sulfur yet, so I may just add distilled water or leave it for now.
  2. Not sure why, but my tap water recently started smelling like sulfur/rotten eggs. My tank doesn't require me to do water changes very often, probably because it's heavily planted. My question, is can I safely top off my tank? Or should I buy and add distilled water until my landlord fixes the smell, if he ever does?
  3. Wow, thanks for all the replies. I guess I'll let them stay for now, as long as I don't get a bunch of them, and get them climbing out of the tank.
  4. Hello, I have been trying to figure out where this snail came from, as the only thing I have added to this tank in the last 6 months or so, is food. Anyway, I don't mind a few snails, but I want to know if this is one that will destroy my plants, as I would probably remove it if so.
  5. Thanks for all the replies. I figured it should be safe, since they seem to be doing ok, and eat the wafers just fine, but wanted more opinions on it. Seems like any buildup of copper in the water from the food, should be removed with water changes.
  6. I re uploaded the pictures. Also, I don't know for sure if he is eating, since the shrimp in the tank eat a lot of the wafers I put in there for the plecos. I can try to take better pics if these two aren't good enough.
  7. Hello, I have been feeding my plecos Hikari wafers, and while looking over the ingredients, it says copper sulfate. I have a bunch of shrimp in the tank and copper is toxic to invertebrates, but so far it doesn't seem to affect the shrimp as far as I can tell. Anyone have any long term use of this food with shrimp in the tank?
  8. Hello, one of my two clown plecos went missing for a few days, and when I finally found him, I noticed this gold dust look to his face and a bit on the fins. I don't know if it's normal, as it's the first time I have shined a flash light on the fish, and I can't really see the other clown pleco I have, because he is always in the cave he dug under some driftwood. I didn't see any dust looking stuff on the body. None of my other fish, show any signs of an illness. Have zebra danios, bluefin danios, and neon tetras in the tank. I've had him since August, and the latest thing I added was some red cherry shrimp back in November. Water parameters are good as well. At first, I thought maybe it was velvet, but another post I read somewhere had a picture similar to what I see and they said it was normal, but I can't really find any other sources to corroborate that with. I am having difficulty getting better pictures, as my camera doesn't want to focus properly, and I don't want to blind my fish with a bright light any more than I have to. The second pic is blurry, but you can still make out the gold bits. It almost looks like glitter.
