  1. GhI bought this anubius at a box store because it was big and wanted to add to my cichlid tank. Attached to wood and started out great, produced new leaves and roots growing. Then I came home to 2 leaves floating. Thought maybe fish ripped them off. Then I noticed another leaf that looked loose at base. Looked fibrous at break. None broke off clean all got fibrous before coming off. Now a month later it's down to the last leaf! Even the new growth fell off. Makes me think it's rotting but I'm confused because it started out good growing new leafs and glued on wood with only a tiny spot of glue. I have 7 other Anubias that are doing well. Dose weekly with easy green, a.c.o. light on 75 gallon tank running 7 hours a day. Not sure what other information would be helpful. Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrates 20 ph 7.8 phosphate 0 ghost 150 kh 180 tank around 78'f I'm going against the grain, 75 gallon Mbuna tank planted. Valisnaria, water sprite, Java fern, cript wendii red, dwarf lilly, Amazon sword, Java moss, pathos in filter. Been running 6 months. 25 mbuna, 2 peacock cichlids, 8 serpae tetra, 2 red brissel nose, 1 leopard pleco, 5 nerite snails
  2. I'd give it 2-3 per week or put planted substrate under yours. I've put filter bags full under existing gravel. Gets cloudy for a second putting it in.
  3. Will micro swords roots reach the soil if it's 2" down? I don't think the roots are long enough. Just something to check out.
  4. Thanks ! I'm new to live plants but loving them!
  5. Besides the Val, lily, Anubias, what is that sprite or wisteria? The floaters roots wrapped around the lily, if you look at top of picture 😆
  6. There's a rainbow in back. Pink castle peeled so took it out. I let my 5 year old get the decorations 😆
  7. Overstocked! I have another tank some will go into. 5 brisselnose (1¼), a one eyed serpae tetra, 2 zebra danios, 5 lampeye tetra, 4 Peacock grudgen, 6 panda Cory, 5 Amano shrimp, 6 nerite snails. I'm planning on getting a bigger tank soon. I have an extra 4' light and filters! Aquaneat light, fluval stratum capped with black cichlid sand/crushed coral, 20 gallon tank. Thanks it's amazed me!
  8. Feed your Val LOTS of roots tabs. Won't take long you'll have plenty! 2 plants - 2 months later can't count them all!
  9. Planted 2 months ago with 2 Italian valley and I think wisteria. Both took off! Peices of roots from a cript wendii all sprouted leaves and grew amazingly! Added Scarlett temple day of last picture.
  10. It's floating! Has lots of roots! I bought wisteria and sprit same day, could be I mixed up what was what. I've never had live plants. I'm pretty sure it's just die off from diatoms, there's another bunch at other end of tank doing much better. Just put sword in behind it. Then the back of tank is Val and multiple types of Anubias in tank. Root tabs and easy green. Honestly I have plenty more in another tank just wanted to save it if possible. It's amazing stuff, every bit floats and grows roots!
  11. I had an outbreak of brown diatoms and it coated my water sprite bad. I think I've got the diatom issue resolved but my plant is getting smaller and smaller due to being covered. Stem is still really green still. I'm hoping it will melt back and regrow but unsure. Anyone seen what happens?
  12. I quarantined the fish and tried treating but it didn't make it unfortunately. Fortunately it didn't spread to any of the other fish in the tank. Thank you for all the advice. I think I need to learn what gram positive and gram negative is.
  13. I have ich x , parashield , maracyn on hand. I'm thinking the maracyn is what I have that'll work? Sorry I'm kinda green but trying. Bought what I thought would cover most illnesses before they occurred. I quarantined and gave maracyn. would ich x be helpful?
  14. 20 gallon planted tank Tanks at 78f no ammonia or nitrites, 40 nitrates (dosing with easy green) 25% water change 4 days ago. Tanks been running 3 months. Cycled easy ran a large aquarium coop sponge filter out of my 75 gallon. Started as a hospital tank/quarantine till daughter wanted fish with unicorn, rainbow, castle theme. 3 panda cories, 5 lamp eye, 3 zebra danios, 5 Peacock grudgen, 5 narite snails, 3 bristlenose. I've had trouble with panda cories survival rate but I think p Co get in and sell dying fish. Last 3 I got were it 2 others were dead in their tank.
  15. I have a few Peacock grudgen and one has a white mouth and stopped eating. Anyone know what it is and how to treat? Should I treat entire tank or separate and treat
  16. I'm running into same problem. I've been cleaning and cutting out worst parts the algea is killing vacuuming out what I can. Cut my lights back few hours. Hoping it will balance out. I put snails and brisselnose in tank to help.
  17. Thanks. Didn't know if I was missing something. She an amazing fish. Never had a fish that changes colors at will, it's the craziest thing to see. Happy she's a pearl color, upset she'll turn camouflage and she can do it at will and often. Thanks again
  18. Purchased this female at box store holding. She has 6 babies doing well. Notices spots first on a fry then she started getting around her mouth. Few freckles turned to more. Not sure if I should be concerned or not. Hopefully someone knows what it is. Maybe just normal markings as she gets older. Please let me know what you think.
  19. Noticed these inside tank. Looks like something hit and splattered inside tank. Wiped one with finger and it came off but looks to be growing where wasnt wiped. Is it algae? Two spots in picture to left of pickup tube.

  20. Getting back into fish keeping and set up my 75 gallon for mbuna cichlids. Tank has been running about 4 weeks now with 11 Serpae tetras. Fish seem to be doing good, actually seem to be improving. One had 1/2 its tail missing and one eye when I got them home, the tail is filling in and eye area looks to be healed. All of the fins on the rest look to be filling in almost looking like long fins.
