  1. I haven't tried landscaping bricks but did try a cement figurine once. Did not do well. Clay pots are great to lift things off the bottom and I've used plastic shelving before too.
  2. I am so tempted to wake up the pond for the summer. The nice weather in Seattle had my pond sitting at 78 degrees last night. I don't quite trust the weather to keep it up yet though. Did a bit of maintenance on it and found that there's a huge mat of java moss on the bottom and some of the other plants put leaves to the top. I think I'm going to get a lily bulb going now, but wait to put it outside until I have a good sprout on top. The pond started as a bare bottom, but now has about 1/4" of mulm and such. Thinking about adding aquarium gravel to better anchor plants, thoughts on keeping that sort of clean? Whiteclouds have done great overwintering for the last two years. Hoping to add some platinum rice fish and shiners this year.
  3. Thanks for the help everyone. Tank temp is 74. Noticed that both fish seen to have some very stringy poop that is still attached to their anus. The female actually looks like the anus is swollen, but I don't know enough about the fish to tell if that's normal. Could they be constipated from the store I got them from? My tank has plenty of algae to eat, that's why I got them.
  4. Evening all, I'm having no luck with flagfish lately. First try, male and female, had the male pass within a week. Received a replacement and had both fish go within a month. Tried again, with a more mature pair from a different store, and they're both hiding in the plants in the substrate, added 4 days ago. I'm sure it has to do with my water, but I can't figure it out. Tank is 8 years old, 29 gallon, filled with espei raspbora, cardinal tetras, and a yoyo loach. Had an SAE but thought it was aggressive and moved it a couple days ago. Added marycyn and prazi today in case they came in with something. Test strips show 25ppm nitrate, 150 GH, 80 KH, and 6.8-7.2pH. Kind of a long shot, I know, but thought some people might have other ideas. Thanks!
  5. Thanks very much @Cory! I unlinked and relinked to try that. I've also included a screenshot from youtube. Very much appreciate your help.
  6. Hmm, well glad they're out there! I didn't get one on the last two orders so was wondering if maybe they hadn't been released or were out of stock. Thanks!
  7. Hello all, Were the 3yr coins out and about yet? I thought I saw something saying they were but I haven't received mine yet. Almost hitting 4 years, can't believe it's gone by so quickly.
  8. Thanks! I got the straw from the pond area of a local nursery (Sky in Seattle on Aurora). No clue about fungus treatment but good to know.
  9. Yeah no worries, thanks for the compliments! I took the big sticker off the side with a heat gun and goof off, real pain in the butt. Sanded it all down with a medium grit and then painted the outside with rustoleum and the inside with plasti-dip. The plasti-dip comes off on the rails but seems to have held up well under water. I let everything cure and off gas for a week but not sure if that's necessary.
  10. Hmm tried another strip and got a similar reading. There is a little overspray from the neighbors garden but really not much, maybe that's it though. No wrigglers yet, still pretty early in Seattle, and the white clouds keep the mosquitoes down. Everybody seems happy and we're great last summer, so I'll keep on keeping on. Thanks!
  11. Afternoon all! I just did a co-op dip strip in my horse trough pond and noticed about 1.5 chlorine. Everything else looked ok but I haven't changed water in this in over a year. Nothing but rain going in and no runoff from a roof or anything. My only guess would be the barley straw I'm using to help the algae bloom, adding something that the strip is picking up. Thanks for your thoughts!
  12. They do, and I have purchased them. But if I make an order online and have it shipped, the sticker and possibly an insulated bag is included. Like I said, it's a totally first world problem, but there is some incentive to not go to the retail store and make my dry good purchases online.
  13. I would love to get my hands on a few of the stickers, but unfortunately I live only a few minutes from the store and it doesn't make sense for me to purchase from the website. First world problem, I know, but the stickers and the insulated bags are a nice perk for making online orders not available to those fortunate enough to live close by. I bought two stickers for my girls as stocking stuffers last year, the shrimp looks great on a laptop and the betta was awesome on a water bottle until it was washed too many times. Any way to tie stickers to YouTube membership, similar to the in store discount?
  14. Hmmm that could be too. I did grow all the snails but some are from an outdoor pond. I'll start levamisol tomorrow. Thanks
