I need some advice about this turtle’s shell....what is the white area? I tried to take pictures from different angles.

I put them in a 10 gallon hospital tank as they were in a 55 gallon. It was a female batta sorority. They were the only fish in the 55. All survived the ich but one and cleared up and once I put them back in the 55 they slowly died off there were about 16. They were a betta sorority. I moved them because it’s easier to medicate in a 10 gallon. Was this a mistake?

I raised my temperature to 96° for about four days to kill some ich. I had removed the fish when I put the fish back in does that Kill the good bacteria and start the nitrogen cycle over again?
