  1. @Dean’s Fishroom it’s going in the dumpster? Want it? Let’s make a top making video from an old tank 😊
  2. Well this is a fun thread! Keep the pics coming!
  3. I had the joy of breaking down a leaking 40 breeder last night! 😑I had purchased 4 40breeders off local club members before I set up my fish room 2 years ago. Talking with @Dean’s Fishroom he mentioned he thought they were Marineland/Tetra tanks and that the history with those tanks includes a period of time with poor quality resulting in bad seals, and boy was he right! Lucky for me I had a spare Aqueon 40 breeder in the shed that is almost new. Just need to have a hole drilled for the overflow. I mean, what fish room having nerd doesn't have spare tanks lying around?? Here are my steps from last night: 1. Get pissed that a seal failed. 2. Be in denial that a seal failed and look for another source of the leak (ie overflowing AC110, unseated water line, etc.) 3. Accept that the seal failed and the tank has to be torn down and replaced. 4. Drain 25 gallons of tank water into a black tote. 5. Remove lid, AC110, ZIss filters, sponge filters, and all other junk. 6. Move a million Super Red Bristlenose, pea puffer, and guppies. 7. Gently remove cruddy, good-for-nothing, 7-year old tank from rack and fish room without busting it or any other tanks. 8. Move and drill spare tank. 9. Silicone seal new bulkhead for added leak protection. 10. Wait for silicone seal to cure, install drain line and move tank onto rack this evening 11. Add water and fish. 12. Pray the other 3 40bs last much, much longer!
  4. Oh, I like this thread!! I have considered getting a UPS several times as we get frequent power outages where I live late-Fall through Spring. I do have a Honda inverter generator, but it would be great to have a UPS power the linear piston air pumps while I futz around with getting the generator outside, connected to the outdoor outlet, and flipping circuits from line to gen.
  5. @RobertE if you truly want to breed these angelfish then hang in there! By the sounds of it you have tried the most widely recommended approaches. I think at this point you just have to be patient. This sounds exactly like what I am going through with a pair of Tiger Turquoise. I am doing my best to remain patient and let theses fish do their thing. I am also keeping myself distracted with other fish breeding projects, fish room upgrades and staying organized with all the stuff I have accumulated in what seems like a short time.
  6. Nice! I would not turn that down, @FishTankBarn
  7. @Bill Smith this template has been with me since the beginning of the fish room, lol. I but the top of the board against the bottom of the frame.
  8. Last night's addition of "Randy uses leftover PVC to make a drain line", lol 🤪
  9. Ammania gracilis is such a cool plant! I love watching the leaves turn color in our water. Kinda like seeing the tree leaves change in the fall....but without the death! lol
  10. @Kriskmi made a quick video and was going to pull pics from there. I do have one of my scores I can share. Apistogramma agassizi “fire red”. Unboxing a bag of these fish with @JimmyGimbal a while back really made an impression on me.
  11. Went to the Co-Op and got some new fish room additions. Hope to increase the species I am breeding with existing tanks, well aside from the 20L to 30B changeovers. I am glad that 2 years into working at the Co-Op I am still super excited every time I go into the retail store. 😀
  12. @rmiranda19 can you confirm the back rigid airline tubing that you plug your airline into is properly seated into the ziss unit? I run at least 15 of these units, most since we started carrying them and have not had this issue. You could also remove the top cap and see if debris has built up where the air leaves the unit.
  13. Awesome. Just downloaded and got it up and running!
  14. Hi @igot2gatswe are working on finding a reliable source for both quality and availability. For a period earlier this year we had some very nice buce coming in, at some point the quality started degrading with us having to dispose of large quantities as it didn't meet standards.
  15. It is very hard for me to get excited about taking down and replacing existing tanks in the fish room. Tonight I said I was going to rip the bandaid and get some work done. I was so motivated to finish the first 20 long to 30 breeder switch that I fashioned up my own threaded 90 degree elbow to save a trip to Home Depot and keep the project going! Hey, you gotta find a use for all the PVC fittings you bought and never needed!😁 So far 1 30 breeder up, 1 more to go. I am pleased with how well it looks in the fish room already. And if you are curious, that is dwarf sagittaria looking realllll sexy in the Easy Planters. 😍
  16. Hey @Steph’s Fish and Plants, glad you got your order as expected! Yes, we do randomly include a free sticker/piece-of-awesome in orders. Regarding the root tab placement, I believe the idea is to actual place the root tab inside the rock wool and make a "root sandwich" if you will. Crinum is a little different since it is a tuber, and I would think you might be ok if some roots were poking out the bottom of that rock wool. Given how it appears, I would put the root tab inside the rock wool.
  17. Welcome, Hibi! What kind of killifish are you going to be keeping?
  18. @ADMWNDSR83 A sports team themed tank? I must see. Pics or it doesn’t exist. 😊
  19. Double bonus today, recently paired off angels AND tiger turquoise discus both spawning! (Note: this discus pair has only spawned one other time so far, they are not the pair that go at it like rabbits)
  20. No hate from me! If you want’em you should get some!
  21. I think the occasional episode that diverges from fish is ok. Talking to an ant master sounds pretty cool!
  22. Between Aquabid and Aquahuna, I am curious to know what others are finding interesting and have almost added to cart? Right now I think these Calico Honduran Red Points look pretty sweet!
