  1. No just super high ph I am on a well. Seems i have rock water. I think my GH is like 25 ppm and my KH is between 120- 180 ppm pretty sure my GH was 0 ppm till I added a banquet block
  2. Okay my water I wierd must be this Canadian soil, my ph is like 8.4+ with like zero hardness. I think the term is rock water from what I can gather. Dean, Corys master fish breeder friend has very similar water conditions. But all the videos I watch didn't hear a whole lot beside he uses crushed coral to keep it from crashing. I don't have any coral at this moment but will be looking for some befor my tank crashes.
  3. Thanks. Glade I found a great community to be part of. Have had that question now since I bought the API water test kit and noticed that the ph was super high. but befor that I only had test strips that never real showed how high it real was because it was higher then the test strips would test for. Befor I knew the ph was that high the fish seemed to be comfortable so real that's the main thing. I'm pretty addicted now and love it all right down to the water changes. I have a fluvial light and put it on lightning mode seems to really get the tank going During water changes. Seem to encourage spawning behaviors aswell. Thank you animalnerd98 for the vote of confidence hopefully someday I might be able to return the gratitude. 🐠
  4. Thank you aswell I am going to try to slowly raise it back to tap level. Was going to add crushed coral because I have also heard that it releases slowly when ph is high and more aggressively when the ph drops. I heard it keeps the ph from crashing. But yes thank you for your two cents they were exactly what I needed. Hoping I can still breed some guppys. Snails seem to not mind the ph stared with one now have like 200 mystery snails
  5. Thank you for the info it will change the way I'm am treating the tanks will also add some crushed coral to help stabilize. Thanks for taking the time to answer wasnt really sure what to do. I have some neon tetras but the seem to be doing fine I have started to lower the tank with vinegar but will be doing some water changes to bring it to the level of ph from the tap
  6. Hi was wondering what I should do I have 3 tanks of different sizes Using one to breed some guppys and another for my community tank. Was wondering if I should try to buffer my water down from an 8.4 ph or leave it high but consistent? I'm new to hobby and have started to lower tank with vinegar not sure if I should or not don't want any spikes in ph. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. From New Brunswick and thanks for compliment I've seen a million beautiful tanks since I've started in the hobby. Kind of embarrassed to show it
  8. Hi my name is Kyle I'm from Canada. it all started when i was younger my grandmother and i stared a 30 gallon aquarium. now this was a time before internet that was useful. well lets say i wasn't never good at fish keeping when i was young, fast forward 20 years or so i decided to get my 4 your old daughter a fish for her birthday seen a 3.5 gallon half moon acrylic tank, went to the pet store and tried to get a fish for a not even set up tank.. thankfully the young lady working at the store cared for the fish and noticed that i had no clue what i was doing. she hooked me up with a dumbo halfmoon betta beautiful pink body red fin. went from the 3.5 gallon betta to a 30 gallon community tank within 2 months, now 3 months in have a 90 gallon community tank, 30 gallon guppy tank and 3.5 for a quarantine tank. someday i would like a large fishroom with many aquariums. p.s. Cory thanks for all the great videos from the live streams to the unboxing and amazing farm tours. love the content keep up the great work.❤️ 1st pic is my 3.5 qt 2nd pic is my first fish in witch has sadly passed due to my own ignorance. PLEASE USE INTAKE SPONGE on mechanical filtration. 3rd pic is my newest tank a 90 gallon community got a sick group of 7 zebra danoes, 11 neon tetras, 6+ sunburst platies, 2 flying foxes? 2 java khoulie lotches 1 vale tail betta female, an albino bristle nose pleco, clown pleco, 2 nitrate snails, 1 to >100 mystery snails and my show piece of a red tail... shark bet you thought i was going to say catfish. no but the shark is only 4 inch right now and is already a terrorizer. funny enough tho he dosent signal out any fish in particular and goes in the cave when i point at him. also goes to bed at like 7 or 8pm couple hours before the rest of the fish go to sleep. 4th and for most is a reestablished 30 gallon guppy tank. started with a male and 2 females been in there 1 week have like 7ish babies 1 spotted bristle nose pleco and like >100 mystery snails. i have a story and if you made it this far why stop now, tore the 30 gallon down to make the 90 gallon hardscaped had the 30 gallon down gravel sucked nearly dry so me and my pregnant girl friend could carry the tank to another room so nearly dry for almost two weeks then moved the tank to new spot refilled with water to notice the tank was still thriving with life nearly two and a half weeks later
