  1. Congratulations! Are you going to let them hatch on the glass or are you going to incubate them?
  2. This is inspiring to me! Thanks for sharing 🙂
  3. These are great! Thanks for the topic. I've enjoyed my 48 gallon tank alot more since I stopped trying to control the way everything looks. I'm just letting the plants all meld together and do whatever they want.
  4. Beautiful hardscape! Looks like a setup I've considered for shell dwellers. I personally like the driftwood creating a tunnel and breaking up the rockwork a bit. Looking forward to seeing it with plants!
  5. Looks amazing! Personally, I like the tall growth in back and wouldn't trim until it hits the water line.
  6. Pygmy Chameleons are so cute! Have you set this up yet?
  7. Looks great! I love the little Monte Carlo nook in front.
  8. Just posting an update - the lump is getting larger, but her eating and behaviors are still the same. I’ve been giving her a couple snails and Vita Chem everyday.
  9. Welcome! We love our aquariums in the PNW! Look forward to seeing your new build 🙂
  10. Thank you @mountaintoppufferkeeper and @Fish Folk! It's amazing to have you both as a resource. That growth on this hairy puffer looks very similar! This may be coinciding with a lack of diversity in her diet. I have been slacking on my snail breeding since I've had scuds outcompeting them for food in my snail tank. She lives with a large colony of cherry shrimp, but I think she is too slow to catch one very often. So it's mostly just been bloodworms. Just placed an order for some more snails to try and rebuild their population (and attempting to get rid of the scuds). I'm also going to try out the vita chem. I'll post here if anything changes!
  11. pH - 7.2 Nitrates - 40ppm Hardness - 150ppm Nitrite - 0 Ammonia - 0 KH/Buffer- 80ppm Water Temperature - 75º I'm noticing a lump on my puffer's jaw that wasn't there before. It looks like swelling just on her right side, but her behavior and eating is otherwise normal. Is this anything to be concerned about? .
  12. Happy to oblige! Love those Mysteries. They’re my Panda Loach nannies lol
  13. That sounds like a good idea! What does your sight break look like? Is it a plant?
  14. Thank you very much! You may be spot on about having lights behind me. This is what they’re seeing opposite the front pane- it’s about 6 feet away 😬
  15. I have a 48 gallon community tank (high tech setup, canister filter) with: 1 Spotted Congo Puffer 6 Congo Tetra 6 Orange Laser Cories 1 Hillstream Loach 2 Giant Otos A thriving colony of Cherry Shrimp I’ve had my Congo Tetra for over six months and they are pretty intense. Often when I reach in the tank, they go into freak out mode where they thrash against the glass, substrate, and rocks. It looks like they might be trying to dig under the rocks which looks painful… Sometimes they pull up plants. I also have to be very careful walking near the tank at night to prevent freak outs. Otherwise, they seem to dominate the tank, pushing my puffer away at feeding time. Most of the males are very colorful. Is this normal for Congo Tetras? Maybe I just prefer more chill species?
  16. I am planning on dosing the tank, but I only have regular maracyn. Can I ask why you suggest maracyn2 instead of regular maracyn?
  17. This is super helpful! Thank you so much. I really like the idea of the prazipo medicated food, and will try that out asap.
  18. I added the baby panda loaches a few months ago. They were not quarantined beforehand 😔
  19. I’ve had some deaths (1 Emerald Eye Rasbora, 3 baby Panda Loaches, 1 adult panda loach jumped out) in this tank over the past month and haven’t been able to figure out what’s going on. I haven’t seen any signs of disease but I do see a red spot on a Rasbora today. It is otherwise acting very normal. Any ideas? Water Parameters: pH - 7.2 Nitrates - 10 ppm Hardness - 150 ppm Nitrite - 0 Ammonia - 0 KH/Buffer - 80 ppm Water Temperature - 72-73 • Easy Green - 1 pump 1x day (lots of stem plants) • canister filter & airstone • tank is 8 months old • 22 gallons long tank
  20. Hi, Can I ask how this was resolved for you? I'm dealing with a similar issue right now.
  21. This is great news! Hopefully she will keep the peace a little better than a male might hahah. I do agree she is suddenly looking wider. I love this idea. I do worry about getting nibbled on with my hand that deep in the tank though, so maybe something like this with a longer handle...
  22. @Chris I'm feeding a mixture of ramshorn/bladder/pond snails. He does well with the small ones, but I'm not sure he's really scraping all the meat out of the big ones... And any chewing on the shell is pretty minimal around the outer edge. Maybe he'll get better at it when he's bigger? He's still about 2.5" from nose to tail.
  23. @Patrick_G Thank you! The Tetra are beautiful and I think they know it too 😉 I will definitely try Maracyn next if my other attempts don't work out...
  24. @TheSwissAquarist Thank you for the input! I'll let you know how it goes. I also thought to point the outlet toward the center of the tank to potentially increase flow over the sand.. not sure how much that will help since I don't have a way to point it down. Here's a pic of the tank today after a very thorough sand vacuuming:
