  1. Hi, does anyone know if peppered Corydoras and Sterbai Corydoras will interbreed or can I keep them together with their own respective schools?
  2. Hello, recently picked up these guys for free and was wondering if anyone could ID them for me. I believe they are peppered Cory’s but I’m not positive
  3. I know Sterbai tend to do fine in warmer temps. Would you suggest using a heater to keep the tank at a solid 78°F for breeding purposes if I was to put the two together? Or keep it with no heater so it stays around 70-72°?
  4. Has anyone ever successfully kept a couple of species of Corydoras together in a breeding tank. I want to breed a few species, but don’t necessarily have the space so I wanted to keep them together. More specifically Sterbai and Orange laser. If I was to keep sufficient schools for both, could this be feasible?
  5. Hello, I was curious to see if anyone has been able to breed Sterbai Cory’s at around room temp (no heater). I know they are generally considered one of the types of Cory’s that can handle warmer waters, but I have no heater in the tank at the moment. If anyone has had success, let me know how, or if I should just get a heater
  6. Amazing advice! Thank you! When you get spawns, do you put the fry into a breeder box or simply provide ample hiding spaces (ex. Moss) for them in the tank? Also do you treat it with anything (like methylene blue)
  7. For awhile I’ve wanted to breed Corydoras, and what better species than the gold laser Cory? However, it’s hard to find exact parameters to succeed with breeding online, because every website offers different advice. Y’all have not failed me in the past and I want some opinions on water parameters, if a 20gL plastic tub with a sponge filter and a bunch of Java moss (bare bottom) would work, and other tips. Thanks!
  8. Hello, I’ve recently setup a neocaridina shrimp breeding tub. Just used a plastic Al “food-safe” tub I got from Wal-mart. Have a sponge filter and Java moss with a few rocks containing anubias glued to them. What I was wondering is if a substrate is needed? I plan on this being a breeding tub for blue dreams and I’d rather keep it as cheap as possible, but I want to know if a substrate is actually needed or not
  9. Hey y’all, im putting together a 7-8gal pea puffer aquarium. Going to house just 2 pea puffers. And it was going to be filled with ramshorn and pond snails. Would feeding by hand (like frozen bloodworms or such) need to be done if the population of snails is adequate enough? Or will the snails be all the need?
  10. Ah gotcha, I had an extra T-valve and airstone sitting around so I wanted to make sure there wasn’t any big cons about it. I do have a low-tech shrimp tank. And so I wanted to make sure their water had plenty of oxygen in it beforehand
  11. Hello, Ive heard some people put an air stone in their water they use for water changes to help aerate it before putting it into the aquarium. Are there significant benefits to this or any cons?
  12. Being 6’4” with arms almost too long, I don’t need to worry about maintenance. I think the smart move is take the best of both worlds and get a 75G 😂
  13. So a big tank debate I see is that people prefer the 40gal Breeder over a 55gal and I’m curious as to why. I hear it’s because the 40gal breeder has more width, so there is more surface area for bottom dwellers. And while that is true, after doing the math, a 40gal breeder has 648 sq inches of space as opposed to 624 in the 55gal. So yes, there is 24 sq inches more of space, but I find that when given more space, people place more decor or plants. So at the end of the day, is it really worth it to get a 40gal breeder that is less desirable to watch from the outside due to the lower height and short length? P.S. I understand sometimes if u have a big fish that needs room to turn, the 40gal is the better option
  14. Howdy, I was curious to get a pea puffer for my low tech tank. He’d help control the pest snail population. There is currently no heater on the aquarium and it stays a steady 70-72°F. Is that too cold for these guys or do you think he will be fine?
  15. Luckily it’s a no filter setup so I don’t have to worry about cleaning that out. Might buy a couple assassin snails. Maybe a pea puffer. Not sure yet
  16. Unfortunately it’s something I need that can live in a 5gal. I’ll consider those in my bigger tanks tho!
  17. I never feed the shrimp tank and it still bloomed 😂😂. But thank you for the info I might get an ole pea puffers lol
  18. Hello, what is everybody’s best method for removing a ramshorn snail infestation without harming fish or shrimp. I don’t want to mix any chemicals into the water so I’m looking more towards predators. Assassin snails or pea puffers? How well do they do and will they harm the shrimp if the pest snail population is high? And then to build off that, how many of one or the other would you recommend in a 5gal shrimp tank?
  19. Not really an option. Got plants glued to it and it’s kinda the centerpiece design with everyone built around it. Might just have to bite the bullet and continue doing 10% water changes a week until it becomes clear
  20. Unfortunately this is a no filter setup lol I’m not worried about the tannins themselves. Just the tint of water makes it harder to see and I wanted to clear it up
  21. Hello, so in my 5gal nano no tech shrimp tank. My water has been very yellow from the tannins of the wood, I’ve been trying to slowly clear it up with water changes over the weeks, but only doing 10% water changes doesn’t seem to be helping much. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can clear my water up without affecting my shrimp?
  22. Never used root tabs before. How do you go about adding them to a filled aquarium? Just drop them in or break them up? Also the deficiency in the swords and stem plants started about a month ago. The pic is form when I just added the stem plants the swords have been there since they were tiny
  23. 2 sponge filters running cause decent surface agitation, substrate is just some black aquarium gravel, stocking is pretty heavy: 29gal (1 Angel, 1 B. RAM, 4 Honey gouramis, 4 Albino Corydoras, mystery snails x5-6) I’m dozing api leaf zone, twice a week using the dosage on the bottle. I assumed it was potassium deficiency at the start cause I was getting spots on leaves and they’d start to decay. Now some leaves just seem like they are dying all around, not just spots. Here’s an old photo of my 29gal when I first planted everything. Seeing what I think is potassium deficiency (spots of decay), but now some leaves are just going brown all over or looking very unhealthy. Been planted about a month now. But some of the plants dying have been there for 6-7months
  24. Hello, I want to hear everyone’s opinions on how they manage to keep a heavily planted tank very healthy without the use of CO2. I’m noticing deficiencies in mine and I’ve been dosing with fertilizers, but I’m starting to wonder if it’s the lack of CO2. If anyone knows solutions, let me know!
  25. It amazes me how docile they are. They go up to eachother and don’t even bother one another. I have seen my angle eat baby snails and shrimp before. But none of them are touching these eggs. It’d be a sight to see if any make it!
