    Betta bloat

Yes the leafs will help sooo much too! I’m so sorry about your betta baby we feed ours a mixed diet of fly larvae mini pellets then the next day fly flakes then the next day frozen blood worms then a skip day then daphnia sometimes! But that skip day helps his digestive system and the protein in bloodworms should make him poo hope he gets to feeling better
  2. Try some pure almond leaf extract a teaspoon every five gallons every water change! It really helped my betta! Also daphnia helped and real almond leafs was put in as well. But this will all lower your ph to 7 most likely unless you have a big aquarium and use a filter then it just filters through anyways so you will want to drop the extract in before you turn everything on so as he can sit in it for a moment! hope this helps my ph is a 7 and my betta seems to do best at a 7 maybe the higher ph is causing him to be more prone to bacteria but the leaf extract is an antiseptic and will help with preventing it coming back! hope this helps!
  3. Have you tried pure almond leaf extract? It would be one teaspoon for five gallons and you would want him to float in it for a bit then let the filter run or put him in another small tank and only put in betta beads and water and of course your conditioner the almond leaf extract and an almond leaf with betta balls Both the extract and the betta balls have antiseptic properties and will put a great protective layer on his fins to keep stuff from reoccurring I tried it with my betta and his torn arm fin and it has grown back and is doing great maybe try getting a ten gallon so the water circulation is bigger and more stress free ? GirlTalksFish is a great channel on YouTube she would know what to do! I hope he gets better!
  4. You can float ice inside of bags to help lower the temp or coke cans just float it at the top right under the lid you will have to switch the can every 30 min or so due to it not being as cold. When it got hot here where we live that’s what we did and it helped a lot ultimately you can do a water change too in an emergency if it’s super hot but don’t drop the temp too fast on them to not shock them. Other than that that GirlTalksFish video is your best bet too, she works with aquarium coop and would know the best thing to do! hope that helps a little
  5. Welcome Charleston Cory Charleston is beautiful we just went to Mount Pleasant on vacation and road the jet skis through the marsh it was fun!!! anyways glad to have you on here we’re new too here everyone is really nice and helpful. I found out about this forum from GirlTalksFish who works for Cory and aquarium coop. She has a video on YouTube where she talks about this forum. Your tanks are absolutely gorgeous!
  6. Welcome @face I’m new here too my husband and I joined after watching a video of GirlTalksFish who works with aquarium coop as well everyone is really nice and conversational and helpful and I’m sure with your experience you can give a lot of good advice!
  7. @Katherineand @Gwallace So I think 🤔 💭 we figured it out maybe.. we did a water change and some of the paint was coming off one of our decor items inside of it , it’s something he swims through so we’re thinking it’s that but in the meantime I hope we shouldn’t be doing anything else for him like salt? We put tannin leaf extract in already and stress coat he is acting fine we made sure and soaked the decor item in hot water and scrubbed the rest of the paint off the ceramic. honestly we wouldn’t have even put it back there if he didn’t like it so much we’re gonna order some rocks and make a natural cave and try to be as natural as possible We should have never got decor with paint like that but the outside is fine it was the inside?

on another note on the fritz almond leaf extract To be honest with my whisper filter it just circulates it to really do a difference you would have to have a sponge filter or put him in another tank with this for an hr but I still dose mine no matter what it’s still circulating through the filter and water But when we did it for the treatment we just turned our filter off for a little bit and let him sit in it for a bit and then turned it back on at this time it was just him and plants in there

yes it colors the water a little if you have a sponge filter it will stay in the water longer but it just barely adds color to my ten gallon but I have a hang on the backwhisper filter but either way it’s not bad and will come out in your water changes I’ll show you a picture of my aquarium I just did a water change and put to teaspoons of that in there
  10. Thank you so much @xXInkedPhoenixXactually I just did my water change and I took out my castle to clean and there was red paint coming off from the inside of it…it all scrubbed off, I know he likes going in there but we’re going to get some rocks and build him a cave something much safer. Maybe the red on his tail is from that???
  11. I agree with both posts above ☝️ it just depends on how many plants you want down the line having them in there while it cycles was really good for our plants our Java fern had ten babies by the time we were ready to add fish almost 2 month later (we were new to the hobby and wanted to be sure we were cycled and ready)
  12. I’ve heard that it’s perfectly normal for a betta male to be focused on his nest and not eat as long as it doesn’t last over a week or so he is beautiful and your tank is beautiful as well! mom you tube there is a girl on there that works for Cory at aquarium coop and her site is called GirlTalksFish it’s mostly about betta but has some other stuff there as well about snails and plants but its definitely something to check out if you have a betta! also I tell everyone this tannin tannins tannin tannins! Indian almond leafs and the extract is amazing for betta it’s a natural antiseptic and ph neutralizer! also really awkward point but we were having an issue with thinking 💭 our male betta is lonely he has been making his bubble nests too so we had an idea to get two female dwarf red honey gourami to put with them they are both labrynth fish but they won’t breed and the honey is smaller and more peaceful NOW everyone has been saying not to put gouramis with betta they don’t get along but that’s only if it’s a female betta with male gourami so I was wandering what would happen with the male betta and two female honey gourami?
  13. Hello I have read all 4 pages of this thread and it has just touched my heart ❤️ you did an amazing job nursing him and it’s hard in Tn with our water we’re in the Smokey mountains and water here is hard and when you mentioned Sephis it made me think of what’s going on with our water system now since the flood we went on a boil water advisory so we quit using the tap water here in TN I also know that that type water here in Tn plus high ph is likely to give them a skin burn we keep ours at a neutral 7 but that all depends on what else you have too in your tank. The salt and tannins are all great great ideas they make frtiz Indian almond leaf extract as well but we use it and the leafs with our betta! It greatly helped a torn fin he had ripped off getting caught in the intake before we got a sock on there now it’s half way too the length it should be to match his other long fin arm! We’ve been too worried about putting salt in with our snails and our plants so we like to get a little quarantine tank and put him in there if he needs salt and they have beneficial betta balls you can buy that are soft and the can forage through I think it’s called? Correct me if I’m wrong! But then he can have a little play time as well! RIP Pinky Congratulations Luna on your new home I know you will be taking care of!!! you did a great job
  14. I like Aqua Huna but they only ship in bundles and our LFS is an hour away the good one anyways I won’t name the pet store here in town that has fish but every time we’ve been in there they have looks really lethargic and have white spots on them not good not good (ich) anyways is there someone you could recommend for us to find a female dwarf red honey gourami? We need two of them but only females. We won’t be able to put a male in our tank with our other male? thank you all!
  15. So I’m in Leviticus in the Old Testament and John in the New Testament right now my husband and I have a Joel Olsteen devotional we read daily just recently we’ve started to look into the Dead Sea scrolls and the book of Enoch among others pride and prejudice would be the other I started again just because I like it 😏
  16. 17. It’s raining here in the Smokey Mountains and is about 76 which the coolest it’s been in days usually we’re above 87 always now this summer into the mid 90s some days we’re hotter than that so we welcome the rain right now!!
  18. I am having trouble trying to click any of my notifications it just just pops up an error message?
  19. These guys are pretty cool and different! Your tank looks great and they are thriving tho I’m not sure what species of snail they are? as for the cuttlebone we got some and broke it off and threw it in our 10 gallon it was too much for the ph it raised it up but after we cut the bone into smaller pieces and added detox almond leaf extract the ph leveled out now I’ve seen a video on you tube where they shave the soft part of the cuttlebone and let it float on the top of the aquarium and let it fall kindle like snow at night time then by morning the snails will have ate it all.
  20. Hello I’m so sorry about your beta baby not feeling well when we first got our Betta and put him in the tank he got his long fin arm caught in the filter intake and it ripped off well since then we have put almond leafs in the tank and Fritz almond leaf extract in the tank and fed him Daphnia and it has seem to help so much his little fin is growing back so well that’s the most natural way to start trying something because it’s a natural anti-septic and will help defend tremendously and not harm the other fish
  21. I would definitely get some Indian almond leafs for the natural tannins and antiseptic but I’m sure someone else will know more on here we use fritz tannin leaf extract plus leafs in the tank it healed our bettas fin a couple months back so we always recommend it! hope your betta baby gets to feeling better soon!
  22. Hello I’m so sorry to hear about your betta baby having troubles with his fins I have a betta that had torn his lil fin arm on the filter intake of aquarium as soon as we got him now we have a filter sock on the intake. So after that he had one short arm and one long so we got daphnia and almond leaf extract and it helped wanders grow his fin back and it was one of the more natural ways to fix the issue of torn fins or fin rot but like they said it may be you need it for something more specific to the issue since it’s spreading. we had heard about bettafix but that coats the labyrinth organs and isn’t good for the betta now the treatments posted before my post I have heard of too from GirlTalksFish she works for aquarium coop so that seems like an option too! If you go to YouTube and type in Girl Talks Fish you can see all her betta videos and I’m sure between that and what you hear on here will provide you with some kind of solution!

    Betta with bloating

We found that the fluval bug bites the small ones work amazing to not bloat our betta and we used tannins in the water from almond leaf extract to act as a natural antiseptic hope your baby gets to feeling better

    Is this a worm?

Awwww I’m so sorry he is going through this so we got some fritz Indian almond leaf extract and put it in the water with our betta when he tore his fin and it did wanders in healing and we fed him daphnia to help too we had heard about bettafix but it is supposed to cost their labyrinth organ and that’s not good so we did not try that the tannins in the extract will help heal his body it’s a natural antiseptic hope he gets to feeling better!
