  1. @Mudkicker that’s where you need to do your homework 😂
  2. Hmm either a rainbow darter or an orange throat darter
  3. I wish I could figure out how to upload videos I’d show you a 10 gallon tank that went crazy with cherry shrimp.
  4. I can’t say for certain, but I use white vinegar to clean my glass I don’t think it there would be much difference with apple cider. And I feed vinegar eels all the time and I don’t rinse them or anything. Even If you got some vinegar in the tank it might have some effect on ph . But personally I wouldn’t even worry about it.
  5. I keep a betta in a 5 gallon with 3 concolor corydoras. And my betta could care less about the corydoras.
  6. @Mudkicker they breed in caves, I doubt another fish could get in the cave to get after the eggs. I pull the fry and grow them up in a separate tank till they are large enough to return to the 55. As for other fish to go with plecos, Just for ease you could get just about any type of livebearer. typically put a pair/trio in and some type of floating plants and feed and forget. It’s really about your effort input. You could do angelfish but most people myself including would tell you to get a group of 6-8 juv fish and grow them up and wait for a pair to form and sell off the rest. You’ll need to do some homework on what your interested in.
  7. @James Black you think discus are a easy fish to breed? I’ve had no such luck with setting and forgetting discus.
  8. @WhitecloudDynasty I agree with you I think it’s a cross. Where did the buddy get it or is it something he spawned? Maybe @Bentley Pascoe can help he’s a rainbow fish aficionado.
  9. Super red bristle nose colony or maybe a colony of multies, but you said Africans are popular in your area so you could do a type of peacocks. I take in about 6-12 super red bristle nose fry to my LFS every 2 weeks. And my store gives me a solid price and it pays for all of my frozen food and offsets more expensive fish for breeding projects.
  10. Are you looking for easy money or something that is a little bit more challenging?
  11. 3 days it’s the max I like to deal with. But as I get more and more headaches from shipping. I almost always pay for next day. And I stopped selling fish under 50 bucks it seems at that number people are more willing to be pay the overnight shipping .
  12. Interesting I’ve kept pearl gourami’s and had them be the ones that were bullied by a leaf fish and angels.
  13. I vote for a Pearl gourami, super under rated fish
  14. From my experience you should pull them, I’ve lost many eggs/fry from waiting to long. But that’s your call. If you think you can tell when they are going to spawn again then wait. The fry should be fine being moved to a tank of the same temp, and water.
  15. I’d pull them soon, if they spawn again they will more then Likely eat the fry.
  16. Hello I don't wanna give you bad information. But I personally think your chasing something and making this process difficult for yourself. Do you have a local shop?
  17. So I think you have a pregnant guppy but something else is going on as well. Either she’s going to lay a ton of fry or she has some sort of bloating issue going on.
  18. I’d start by backing the light at least a few hours. This will be a long term thing to figure out the balance. But that algae is fairly common in a newer tanks.
  19. I do basically the same thing. About the only difference is I also am conditioning water at the same time. I recently taken on what some would consider to be more difficult species to breed. Lamp eye Congo tetras, wild apisto Agassizi Tefe. And some L number plecos. So softening the water has become more important for me.
  20. I’d watch this video on using it. But You don’t have to throw the plant away. I’m by no way a planted aquarium person. But I should say I think it’s what I call hair algae but its technically staghorn algae. Typically caused by high light, and low water flow. Is the tank newish?
  21. Looks like black hair algae to me. I’d pull the plant out and put some h202 on it. If it turns slightly red and dies off you know it was an algae. Typically when java fern is stressed out it will start sending out new little plants on the leaves. But what josh said is true you can’t bury the rhizome it will cause the plant to rot.
  22. Looks like a bacteria bloom to me. I’d personally stop changing the water and sees if it clears up in a few days. And keep testing often.
  23. Sounds like you’ve already made up your mind on the flex. But 40 breeders are awesome for planted tanks due to the depth of the tank and the lower height.
