  1. @Beardedbillygoat1975 I’ve seen them hide in multiple places. The male tends to sleep inside the coconut hut. They both like hanging out at the bottom of the Java fern. The female likes to chill in their food dish. I’ve seen one inside the flower pot a few times. The anubias gold coin seems like a favorite for both of them. I added more anubias because they seem to like it so much. Occasionally one will hang out on the heater and stick their nose out of the water. They don’t really care about the floating plants. I think warm water and a food dish are essential. They aren’t great eaters so having one designated place ensures they get enough to eat. I’ve fed them frozen food from tongs which is pretty fun. They also like company! They seem to do best in groups. I’ve read that sand isn’t the best for them but I’ve had no problems in this tank so far.
  2. To be honest it was an accident 😅 It took me several months to find two healthy frogs. Out of 5 frogs from the local chain stores these are the only 2 that have survived. I quarantined them for about 3 months and treated with the med trio. I’ve since learned that dwarf frogs are frequently unhealthy. I set up a tank for the little guy with plenty of live plants and a coconut hut. I feed a mix of pellets and frozen foods. He’s quite active and was singing every night on his own. I added the female after quarantine and they laid eggs the very first night! I think keeping a species only tank is helpful. Little dude was very afraid and spent most of his time hiding when he lived in my community tank.
  3. I’m sure hoping the stores do take them! These ones were a complete accident They laid eggs the very first night I added my female to the tank 😅 I’ve got about 8 tadpoles doing really well. Hoping to breed them again on purpose next time.
  4. I know they aren’t fish but I’m so excited about having tadpoles! These little ones are about a month old.
  5. I got a coconut hut from the display tank of a big box store today. They don’t carry them anymore but offered to give me the one they had in the tanks. My question is, how do I go about sterilizing this thing? Can I boil it? Bleach it? Should I even be concerned about transferring disease on a piece of decor? Thanks in advance for any advice!
  6. Just as an update, I had one more frog die yesterday. He started behaving the same way the female had, trying to crawl out of the tank. He looked quite red and his skin was ragged looking. Isolated him and treated him with antibiotics because it seemed to work last time. Unfortunately he passed away after about 4 days in quarantine. I'm not sure if it was the same thing as before since it had been a couple weeks since I finished treating and the frogs seemed to be doing well. I'm sure there was some early sign that I was missing until he started trying to crawl out of the tank. Figured I'll keep updating this thread in case anyone else finds it helpful.
  7. @Ben_RF I share your love of dwarf frogs! I have a group of 3 happily living in my 20 gallon right now 😄 If no fish work out then they’ll be my back up plan.
  8. @T.H. FishkeepingIt is planted, currently just with dwarf hair grass. I’m planning to add more plants soon. I most likely won’t be adding any fish for quite some time but I like to plan ahead. I like the look of the endlers! If I want to avoid breeding would it be okay to have a group of just males or just females?
  9. I am setting up a planted 5.5 gallon tank. I saw a co-op video where Dean mentioned keeping celestial pearl danios in a nano tank. I love the fish but everything else I’ve read says they need at least 10 gallons. Is it possible to keep a small group of CPD’s in a 5.5? Or are there other types of fish that might be a better fit? I would love to hear everyone’s suggestions!
  10. Well it’s been about a week since I started treating with antibiotics and the frogs are looking good. They’re no longer red and are behaving normally now. I guess it was bacterial! Thanks for the help!
  11. So far so good. One of the frogs was trying to get out of the water like the one that died but he’s stopped doing that. Their skin is still shedding in strips and they look kind of ragged. I’ll update this thread as things change.
  12. Thank you! I started giving them maracyn yesterday and so far no more have died.
  13. My african dwarf frogs have started turning red and 1 has died. They’re shedding skin and it’s coming off in pieces. They’re also trying to get out of the water. Ammonia and nitrite are at 0, nitrates at 20. When I went back to the pet store the other frogs there were also looking red so I think whatever it is they caught it at the store. Does anyone know what might be wrong? I’m trying the med trio right now but is there anything else I should be doing?
