  1. Bought my first Pleco at Aquarium Coop yesterday. A gorgeous L177 Gold Nugget (Baryancistrus). I also have 8 Panda, 6 Bronze, and 6 Peppered Cory's.
  2. Made the drive from Whidbey Island to Aquarium Coop yesterday and besides loading up on essentials got my dream Pleco. It required an amount of patience waiting outside in the cold then getting temp taken and trying to socially distance once inside. The crew are top notch and helped me out every step of the way. Was shown all the fabulous types and then picked the L177 Gold Nugget (Baryancistrus) to take home. Cranked up the heat in the car for the long drive . Added a second heater to the 55 gal community tank. Added a seasoned ceramic hidey cave and now the fun begins. It hasn't been 24 hours yet but he/she likes this one resting spot on the stacked sponge filter. This tank has a lot of guppy's and Cory's for the winter. My fish room in the outside barn doesn't have a generator like the house. We get a lot of power outages here. Keeping tropical fish is a challenge for me.
  3. I've been a gardener for 50 years and learned early on if something dies after I've given it my best efforts, not to get sentimental. Dig those suckers and sickies out and plant more of what grows well. I approach my fish hobby the same. If a species doesn't do well with my conditions and efforts, find species that will thrive under my best efforts and collect those. I don't enjoy set backs but I do learn from them.
  4. My buddies. Ginger a mini poodle and Lizzie a rescue poodle mix.
  5. Aquarium Coop first every day. Then hendrix backyard. He is a breeder of flowerhorns, betta, and fancy guppy's. He is my go too you tube fish guy in the Philippines. How to do stuff on the cheap with excellent results.
  6. Something low tech and inexpensive has been a game changer for me. Bamboo Steamers. I use them for all kinds of seafood and veg. Using nothing else but an inch of water and dinner done in minutes. I use kale or cabbage leaves as liner so clean up is easy.
  7. My favorite tank is the only one I've got fully planted and stocked. It's the 40 gallon breeder as well. I call it the Cory Cat tank. 19 cory's and black water to boot. I have my chair right next to it and can watch it for hours. Easy to maintain. I also have an awkward 55. Won't get another.
  8. Moving some fish around from Fish room in the chicken barn to Greenhouse tanks. Gold fish especially can take cooler temps in the Greenhouse and the heated aquariums in the Fish room hold the Guppy collection, Cory cat tank and Rice fish. All my fish except for the outside Koi are Quarantine purchases inspired by Aquarium Coop YouTube channel over the last six months. The Vienna Guppy's gave birth so I set up the Brine shrimp hatcher in the Fish room today too. Picture of my favorite most personable Ranchu. Big Betty. A four year old female. My first purchase from Aquarium Coop this spring. The biggest Ranchu I've ever seen. Six inches nose to tail and needs a lot of groceries!
  9. My toy poodle mix Lizzie will watch the gold fish They watch her too.
